Tickets

Magical pieces of paper which grant access to Old Trafford. Also ridiculously difficult to get hold of, as you know we have a massive fan base of over 300,000,000. And we only have 76,000 seats. You understand the difficulty...

Home tickets

Most of you want to go to Old Trafford. It should be done at least once for every United fan. Now...The only way to guarantee you get home tickets, is to get a season ticket. You can join the priority list for next season here. Prices for adults vary from £532-£950, obviously the more expensive for the better seats.

The next step to hoping to get a home ticket is to get an official membership which is £32 for an adult and you get a few benefits, but the main ones priority for home tickets, and £5 off the price of home tickets. It is worth getting one even if you are only planning to be here for 1 game. You should use all the help you can get.

I understand the season ticket method won't make financial sense as you only want to go to one game. That's fine. So get a membership. If tickets are available, you can find out here.

If you don't have a membership, you need to understand there is a very small chance you will get tickets If they are big games, City/Liverpool/Arsenal/Chelsea/last home game/memorable occasion etc, unfortunately, you have next to no chance. Those tickets will go like quick-fire, members will gobble them up. We aren't City, they won't go on general sale. If you are a member, you may be asked to enter a ballot to potentially get tickets. Follow the instructions to apply. Some games do go on general sale, and you can go on the site and pick your seats and then pay. (No guarantee they will be good seats or have 2 together). The less high profile the game, the more likely you are to get tickets. For example, the mid-week replay against Cambridge this season had TONS of spares. League Cup games usually do, if you come for 1 game, try scheduling it for a League Cup game.

And that is it for home games. Also, a big notice Do NOT, I repeat, NOT, organise a trip to Manchester to see a game BEFORE you have tickets or a solid method of getting some. You will very likely be disappointed if you do so.

Away tickets

Away games are a different kettle of fish. Away games are great because of the fantastic atmosphere, and it obviously seems like a good thing to go to. Unfortunately, you cannot just buy away tickets like home ones.

Away tickets can only be obtained by season ticket holders of a certain amount of years. Aside from that, there is no way of getting them officially. That is that.

3rd party tickets

Now, many people sell tickets for a profit, or some just look to get rid of their tickets for the same price.

There aren't many 'good' places to successfully get tickets unofficially. Twitter has many account dedicated to selling United tickets at face value.

Obviously it's still not easy to get through twitter, as everyone else is trying to get them too. It might be worth googling 'United vs [Opponent] spare] and trying to PM someone directly. I assume Facebook has similar pages which follow a similar concept.

You could approach touts on the day "Anyone need any tickets?!" but you will probably be paying over face value, there is no actual guarantee you will find a tout, and it's technically illegal. So be warned...

I'll just add, another option is to go through a booking agent that will give you match ticket and hotel while sometimes having travel included. These maybe only really for those from Ireland but I'll list a few in case it helps someone.

Abbey Travel, used them a couple of years ago and they were decent. They usually put people into the Travelodge in the city centre but that was booked out so they put us in the Palace Hotel. Tickets were behind the goal in the second tier of the East Stand.

Champions Travel, will be going to the West Brom game with them, will add to this after but so far, staying the Travelodge in the city centre with tickets behind the goal in the Stretford End.

Celtic Horizons will give you a hotel and match ticket. Also a bus available from Dublin going to the hotel.

Marathon Sports give the same deal as Celtic Horizons.

Thomas Cook do packages and tickets seem to be in the Sir Alex Ferguson stand along with a bed and breakfast in the city. Seem to be a few tickets left for the West Brom game surprisingly seeing as it said it had only one left when I looked a few weeks ago, bunch of bastards.

Based on my experience, no. My Dad has to get a membership for him and then get me a Child membership, back when we did it in 12/13. I doubt it's changed.

Of course they'd want to get as much money from us as possible.

You actually can depending on the game. For the Burnley game this year my dad got 2 tickets on one membership. I think this only happens against 'smaller' teams that don't sell as well

If you are really desperate you can go the Matchday VIP route. You get a meal/drinks and a ticket. It is very expensive but more reliable than going through a tout.

Also add: if buying of a tout never use bank transfer. either meet up or pay through paypal goods and services

Are touts not common over there? In the states every sporting event, even the smallest ones, have them (though we call them scalpers). Its also illegal here but its so commonplace that its vitually never enforced.

I just got a ticket for the WBA game earlier today. I'm really excited. It's going to be my first live football game, that too at Old Trafford.

What does it mean to be on the "Priority list". Is that a guarantee that you're a season ticket holder. I see a lot of "join the waiting list" advertisement in the past, but what's the point if you're not a guaranteed ticket holder.

Here's the USA membership link. I think the only difference is you're not priority for getting home tickets. You have the opportunity to apply for them. There's also a separate membership for the USA tour (if that still happens this year)

I'll probably need four or five tickets around the December period.

Since there's more games, and some being mid-days, is it much more likely to get tickets for a game then? (I don't mind not seeing the blockbusters; I'll be satisfied to watch them against any team.)

Looking to buy tickets for the Sunderland game on the 26th of September. If I go and buy two memberships, how do I know there are any tickets left for that game?

Should I still buy membership in hopes of getting 2 tickets for the Swansea (H) game on the 2nd of January? Or is it too late and I should just buy via a third party website (i.e. Stubhub)?
