I just watched the conclusion of Donald Trump’s 2016 RNC convention speech and one thing that was left out was a discussion of Men’s Rights. There was much talk about immigration, national security, law and order, and other issues that are hot button political topics. Yet, the presidential political candidate has yet to seriously consider the issue of Men’s Rights.
However, on balance, this author must conclude the Trump more than Hillary would likely support Men’s Rights. That is not just an obvious political statement based on the gender of the two politicians or the fact that the Democratic Party is more liberal leaning. Here are some reasons why I think Trump may support Men’s Rights over Hillary Clinton:
- Trump supported his staff from allegations of criminal assault by a female reporter who claimed she was strong armed. Those who saw the video realized that the aid was merely trying to move the reporter away from Trump.
- At a Trump campaign rally in Spokane, Washington, Donald Trump slammed Hillary Clinton for “playing the women’s card” to gain campaign support. When citing Clinton’s criticisms of him, Trump stated: “All of the men, we’re petrified to speak to women anymore…You know what? The women get it better than we do, folks. They get it better than we do.”
- Trump made the following little known statement concerning prenuptial agreements: “The most difficult aspect of the prenuptial agreement is informing your future wife (or husband): I love you very much, but just in case things don’t work out, this is what you will get in the divorce. There are basically three types of women and reactions. One is the good woman who very much loves her future husband, solely for himself, but refuses to sign the agreement on principle. I fully understand this, but the man should take a pass anyway and find someone else. The other is the calculating woman who refuses to sign the prenuptial agreement because she is expecting to take advantage of the poor, unsuspecting sucker she’s got in her grasp. There is also the woman who will openly and quickly sign a prenuptial agreement in order to make a quick hit and take the money given to her.”
- Hillary was an architect and proponent behind the Violence Against Women’s Act (VAWA) which passed under Bill Clinton in 1994. This legislation paved the way for federal funding of domestic violence legislation, enforcement and funding across the United States and is one of the factors responsible for the pandemic of abuse of domestic violence laws against Men.
- Trump has openly criticized Sarah Jessica Parker, Rosie O’Donnell, Cher, Bette Midler and other feminist activists.
While neither candidate has seriously considered the issue of Men’s Rights at the risk of upsetting the liberal feminist base, I think it is important for Men to speak their mind and let their politicians know that they do not want them to openly support liberal and feminist movements to the detriment of Men. If more “law and order” means increased prosecution of Men while women are given a free pass, count me out.
