Birmingham City target loan deal for Man United striker James Wilson

Manchester United striker James Wilson could be headed for another loan spell, this time with Birmingham City.

Manchester United striker James Wilson is a loan target for Birmingham City, sources close to the Championship club have told ESPN FC.

New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is looking to trim his squad and he is willing to let Wilson go out on loan.

Mourinho feels he has options in attack with Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to enable Wilson to go out on loan in search of regular first-team football.

Wilson spent last season on loan at Brighton and scored five goals for the Seagulls as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

A number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in Wilson and Birmingham boss Gary Rowett is hoping to win the race for the 20-year-old.

Rowett is looking to bolster his attacking options at Birmingham after they were held to a goalless draw by Cardiff in their opening Championship game on Saturday.
