At that age all learned behavior is simply imitation.

I'll give you one guess who that girl is imitating.

I came home from university for a few days and ended up playing with some of my little cousins (boy and girl, both 8). At one point, things got a little rough and the girl said, "You can't hit me, I'm a girl!"

I was very quick to correct her. "No. It doesn't matter if you're a boy or a girl. You shouldn't hit someone because it's wrong, period." The fact I had to do this makes me very afraid for the next generation of humanity. I would have reprimanded their parents about it, but I unfortunately didn't get the chance.
