I think the main thing is that the original thread needs time to get actual help-oriented responses - if the commentary (or the pointing & laughing) starts too soon, the whole thing goes off the rails pretty quickly. 6 hours accomplishes that as well as 12, imo - I'm all for the change.

I mostly lurk here. If six hours is enough to ensure that no brigading occurs, I'd be happy with the rule change. Since a chunk of posts on the front page of /r/legaladvice are 6-12 hours old, though, it might be difficult to tell brigaders apart from genuine latecomers.

Then again, I'm not an /r/legaladvice mod or anything. As long as this sub keeps up the quality content, I'm fine with any rules you want to enforce.
