Please fucking tell me this isn't real... it's satire, right? Right guys?

Not satire.

Apparently these days all it takes to deserve a raise is to possess a vagina, because #currentyear

[–]RenegadeMindsWay, way east... 6

Oh God...

Did they adjust for performance? (Expecting <crickets/>...)

[–]SmallTimeGainsDAE miss Harper yet?[S] 10

What are you, some kind of fucking sexist?

[–]RenegadeMindsWay, way east... 2

Employers pay for performance. I don't think UoW is any different and wouldn't doubt that things like women taking maternity leave play a part in lower performance. So, yeah... sexist. Because reality is sexist.

It doesn't sound like they even adjusted for salary, i.e. gave people a percentage raise to even out the averages. They just straight-up gave everyone $2900 more.

EDIT: And the actual report is worth a look, they did adjust for position, years worked, merit etc. in their regression analysis. They also did a preliminary non-gendered analysis to identify existing individuals with anomalous salaries that couldn't be explained by performance or anything else in their career path, then adjusted those to where their salary should have been before getting into the gendered analysis. It's much more thorough that you'd expect given the blurb in the paper.

Hey fuckface. Don't ruin this circljerk with your stupid facts and rational thought. The talking points are as follows:

-vagina? You get fucked.
-equal pay? Nah. Use cuckery or cucks or some other derivation like cuckstorm

[–]SmallTimeGainsDAE miss Harper yet?[S] 0

It's pretty large cuckery given that each female received an equal pay raise

There was a fuck load of math in that report. Do you disagree with the report recommendations or methodology or both?

[–]SmallTimeGainsDAE miss Harper yet?[S] 0

I'm saying all the math and analysis they performed doesn't matter because they gave everyone an equal pay raise

I dunno man. Feels being more important than STEM? That chickspeak doesn't penetrate my autism.

[–]RenegadeMindsWay, way east... 0

Hm. Interesting. I should probably have a read, but, got work to do. Oh well.

This study makes me wonder if men were just more honest and aggressive about their salary expectations.

It's quite possible. I know a couple of senior-level women in technical fields who do those "Young Women in XYZ" events and a big part of their advice is along the lines of "be confident and assertive, ask for what you want rather than waiting for someone to give it to you".

Suddenly every male faculty member identifies as female.

Checkmate, cuckolds.

[–]Numero34Official Bull of the LPC 2

Soon

This would cause an irreversible cucknado, where gender would constantly switch and salaries would go up in increments of 2900. Best we homeschool for now.

It's simply a bribe to get them to shut the hell up finally.

Wynne pioneered it with the bribe to the teacher's labeling it "I know what pizza costs - millions and millions of tax payer dollars" to get them to shut the hell up, right before an election.

I don't understand. What was the anomaly? Did it literally cause all female staff members to make 3000$/year less? If so, how did it go so long without being noticed? And how or why did the system controlling this distinguish between male and female employees? And if it's true, why would it be an issue that it's getting fixed?

The whole thing smells like bullshit from A to Z.

The report from the group that did salary reviews is actually surprisingly good.

Basically, they did a regression analysis based on a whole bunch of factors (years worked, faculty, department, merit score from performance reviews, performance awards, etc. etc.) to predict what a person's salary would reasonably be expected to be based on all of those things. They did a non-gendered analysis first and identified a number of outlier anomalies (people who were being paid significantly more or less than could be explained by their position and performance), then adjusted those to where they would be after an appropriate adjustment and re-ran the analysis with gender included.

The "anomaly" was simply that women were systemically being paid less to the tune of a few thousand bucks, even after controlling for other factors. There wasn't a formal system in place that was distinguishing between male and female employees when assigning salary, this was just the cumulative result of hiring salary and salary adjustments over the years, which for whatever reason, favoured men to the tune of a few thousand dollars. If you eyeball the data to pick out an average salary, this represents a pay gap of about 2%, which would be easy enough to miss as a systemic problem if you didn't actually sit down and do the analysis.

So, this seems to be the result of the phenomenon where women are less likely to negotiate for better wages. The adjustment seems fine then.

If that's the case, then they need to remove negotiations entirely. I'd be kind of annoyed if I worked my employer into giving me a better wage only to have other employees get auto bumped to match me.

I'm of the opinion that we need to teach our daughters to be more competitive.

[–]SmallTimeGainsDAE miss Harper yet?[S] 0

None of this matters given the fact that every female got an equal pay raise

Yeah, it's very strange that it wasn't scaled based on anything else. I feel like that was probably the administration reading the report and going "Well, I ain't heard of no math, but I think I know what to do here!"

I had all these thoughts and more...these bitches should be audited. They'll be audited right? Right?
