Firstly, you are talking about role more so than position. Carrick and Schneiderlin are different types of players, so it doesn't really make sense to hope that he develops into a dictator of play, that's not his role and you can't suddenly learn that. Then you say Pogba won't do that either, it doesn't matter. He may not dictate play but he's more than capable of transitioning the ball from defence to attack which is a key element missing.

No! He's no Carrick. Personally I think he'll be brought on as a substitute for the attacking midfielder to close out games. We need to be looking for Carrick's replacement next season.

Exactly my point. Bcz against tactically good teams like Pep's we will have a need to slow down the game and have a bit of control on the ball for which we still rely on carrick.

Replacing Carrick is going to be a hell of a task. He's a mix of deep lying playmaker and a defensive midfielder. Most players do one or the other. I'm not sure a player like Carrick even exists anywhere in top flight football, and if he does, is he gonna be as good as him.

Yep, hes a combination. But even if we have only a dictator that will be a big strength to such a team of ours.
