As much as people might think the Khan row is an uncalculated knee-jerk reaction from Trump, one which Trump supporters enjoy but the media and the left hate, it's a very well-calculated campaign strategy.
Much in the same way that Trump went directly after Ted Cruz when his PAC made the Melania Ad, Trump is disabling the power of surrogates and proxy PACs by pulling no punches.
Trump is sending the message, "if you want to speak personally ill of me, at the direction of Hillary, I will make you part of my dialogue against Hillary just the same." There will be no casual toe-dippers in this race. "If you want to get involved in personally smearing me, or pushing dishonest Democratic talking points, I will make you involved in the whole media circus." This makes all but the strongest of political voices of the left question their willingness to get involved in trying to directly attack Trump. Just today, the Khans have said that they want to bow out and quit being involved with this process and the media craziness.
This also takes power away from the DNC and Hillary to start proxy wars against Trump via PACs. Much in the same way that Trump attacked Cruz when his PAC attacked Melania, Trump doesn't care. You'll watch this fall as Trump equates surrogate and PAC messages as though they are direct from Hillary's campaign office. It takes away the delegation power of being able to let crazed/untruthful narratives about your opponent be safely launched away from your pristine camp - to allow you to take some sort of "high road." By going after Hillary for their PAC/surrogate messages, the public will perceive them all as one in the same. Therefore forcing Hillary to comment on these untruths and nasty ads, making them look foolish.
This will also make Hillary less likely to use any radical messages or untruthful ads if her campaign knows that Trump will comment on all of them - equating them directly to her and making her look bad. They will have to be responsible for their message.
By blurring the lines between PAC/surrogate and the candidate, Trump will also be playing on everyone's intuition at this point. We all know that the DNC pays people to spread their message. So who are they trying to fool by wasting money on PACs? We all know they control them in one way or another.

This is some 11D Korean Starcraft Battleship right here.
[–]localbizdudeFL[S] 18 points19 points20 points  (2 children)
Trump would take this route in any case. But against Hillary? He's having to be really tough. She is ruthless. Just watch any video about Travelgate when she was the first lady - diabolical power stroking.
It will be interesting to see how low-brow her attacks will get as the fall comes and she's polling low.
[–]JPO398CT 15 points16 points17 points  (1 child)
That's the thing here. All Hillary knows is low-brow, because her only attacks are "muh vagina" and "Drumpf is racist." Combine that with the pitiful liberal narrative, she doesn't have much of an offense.
Trump, meanwhile, isn't bound by such restraints. He already knows his opponent inside and out, and has decades worth of ammo to use. Combined with logic and reason, Hillary and the liberal narrative as a whole crumbles like a house of cards.
Is Hillary ruthless? Undoubtedly so. Does Trump need to get tough? It's his toughness that got him this far; if anything, he's only going to get tougher from here.

Exactly. This ain't no party, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin' around. She is a killer snake, with lame credibility and accomplishments, and has just as much bravado as Trump has. But why does seeing her face plopped onto the pantsuit turn my stomach and disgust me so? Maybe it's because of watching her over all these years and it's muscle memory because she's always cringeworthy to me. Anyway, yes, this is good strategy by Team Trump - shoot for the leader of the pack and the rest will fall in line - or at least be fact checked (wishing they were really anally probed by aliens because it'll be that painful by the time it's done, media spits them out).
AS it damn well should be. Thar's a war going on, right here in our own country - several of them in fact. This little election is just one of them.

hes gonna Yamato cannon the shit out of her.
[–]PumpTrump 19 points20 points21 points  (3 children)
Good post. Though I beleive he should have been much harder on Khan and the crooked hillary camp over this, and went directly to the facts - radical islam killed you son, and crooked hillary voted for the war - we want to be tough on our immigration so this doesnt get worse on our oil land. policies so clear. Khan was such a pawn.
trump hit them on the mother not being allowed to open her mouth though which was pretty good.
[–]BICHO_CHICKEN_ 12 points13 points14 points  (2 children)

We don't know that the mother wasn't allowed to open her mouth.

All we know is that Trump was wondering if she had anything to say. Then Trump said """maybe""" she wasn't allowed to speak.

This subtle use of the word maybe triggered this false storm, however, it doesn't change the fact that the Khans are pawns.

[–]iltdiTXMI 4 points5 points6 points  (1 child)
I'm glad he mentioned the mother though because it goes against this constant narrative of protecting Islam. Islam is shit and one of the shit things about it is women are treated horribly. Trump bringing that up forces people to talk about that
[–]neric05 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
Not only that, but it openly challenges them to question the liberal agenda regarding gender equality.
Forcing them to ask themselves:
"If liberals are supposed to be champions for women, then how come this guy speaking for the liberal candidate has his wife with him everywhere and she suspiciously never says a single word in any interview?"
[–]bystanding_innocentTX 13 points14 points15 points  (3 children)
You shouldn't forget that our friends on the other board have dug up a lot of dirt on Khan. Muslim brotherhood, law firms connected to the Clinton Foundation, shady immigration/visa practices, etc.
There are many good reasons why they decided they don't want to be part of this anymore.
[–]theorymeltfoolGA 5 points6 points7 points  (2 children)
I have a feeling Trump knew a lot of that stuff too before he said anything about them.
[–]bystanding_innocentTX 3 points4 points5 points  (1 child)
It's going to be a fun week seeing all of the Khan's dirty laundry.
The worst part about all of this is that Pat Smith was directly harmed by Clinton's actions and is getting zero airtime.
[–]Babu_Honey_BandgerUSA 4 points5 points6 points  (0 children)
Well said, haven't thought of it like that, this is some 12D Korean Digimon Shit right here....This is the best way to deal with these virtue signaling emotional smearing the left has done for so long.
[–]ImperialxWarlord 4 points5 points6 points  (0 children)
The way he's able to manipulate his foes into helping him out is amazing. He makes sure they only speak about him and never about what they want to do. They're always on the defensive, they can catch a break.
[–]LoveTrumpsHat 3 points4 points5 points  (0 children)
Trump is literally un-Stumpable.
Every dirty trick they play, which he expertly exposes and then turns against them, just makes him seem more and more like a divine form of justice come to avenge the decades of lies they have hurled upon this country.
All hail God-Emperor. I love this man.
[–]InfinitePossibility8MN 2 points3 points4 points  (0 children)
They put themselves on a public and political stage. As the son of a veteran I view their use of their gold star family status as a political shield to be absolutely disgusting.
[–]DragofireheartNH 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
I'm so glad Trump is pulling no punches.
[–]amsterdam_proUKR 1 point2 points3 points  (1 child)
Media is confused, "why won't Trump just behave like a good little cuck and apologize left and right"?
Bitches, this is a cage fight, not an BO presidency.
[–]MotaficationCA 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
It's not a game.
[–]MotaficationCA 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
It's absolutely true. Liberals love to hurl insults with impunity, and rely on their social status to avoid counter attacks. It's a cowardly tactic.
They can say horrible shit about you, but if you respond, the only thing they can say is "You can't talk to me that way, I'm a (insert protected class/race/sex here)."
