A wall of silence from Donald Trump’s top surrogates in Georgia has greeted his escalating tiff with the family of a slain Muslim U.S. Army soldier. Until now.
U.S. Sen. David Perdue, who donned Trump’s tell-tale “Make America Great Again” hat when he endorsed the candidate, sent word through a spokeswoman that he stands by the nominee.
“No one will do more for our troops, veterans, and their families than Donald Trump,” said the spokeswoman, “and this is just another media distraction spun by Hillary Clinton, as we all agree Captain Khan is an American hero.”
He is the first high-ranking Georgia politician to defend Trump amid his war of words with Khizr Khan, the father of the U.S. Army captain killed in Iraq in 2004 who questioned whether Trump had sacrificed anything in his life last week at the Democratic National Convention.
Most other Georgia office-holders declined to comment. And Sen. Johnny Isakson, who is seeking a third term in November, sent this no-frills statement that doesn’t mention Trump’s name.
“Captain Khan made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and we owe a debt of gratitude to him and his family. As chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, I am committed to honoring the sacrifice of our fallen heroes and all of our Gold Star families.”

Trump supporters love to praise Trump as a counter puncher. Well, when the Kahn's stood up and told their story, it was as reaction to Trump's attacks on Muslims (close the border, kick them out, etc.) It was a counterpunch to his proposed policy regarding Muslims (which he has modified several times because of criticism.) They were justifiably enraged by Trump's plans. Their son's patriotism was only used to show how unthinking Trump's blanket treatment of Muslim's is.

The answer, of course, is "no, not really"--though he will find he might be sacrificing quite a bit should he not get his act together. I doubt, on his current trajectory, that come next year he will be an in-demand member of a golf foursome. He might want to think about that. At any rate, I have no issues saying he has sacrificed nothing (well, maybe long work hours, which do matter), just as I say that neither has the other candidate. Except, of course, I am wrong. She has sacrificed, on the way to getting this nomination.
Honor, integrity, and soul. But being a Democrat, the media and entertainment culture will ensure you do not care.

Khan's case was based on a false hypothetical, that had nothing to do with the Constitution. He should have never used the heroic death of his son as a political hammer..
