Dear Mr. Trump,
I know you're thinking that you are doing what's best for your country. I'm watching from afar, in another country, while my girlfriend remains in yours. We're both scared for our futures together. With all the policies you claim to endorse, and your competition being just as bad in many ways, it's getting harder to see the black and white picture.
But, it isn't all black and white, is it?
There's a gray area in everything, where you don't know if it's right or wrong. You and Hillary are fighting to be the last one standing, the president after Obama and make your nation great again in your own viewpoints. But, what if your viewpoint doesn't match ours?
Three political philosophers once existed: Thomas Hobbes, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and John Locke.
Thomas Hobbes believed in totalitarianism, a figurehead to control everything and everyone granted by God (kind of reminds me of you), in short the absolutism for the sovereign. This was due to him seeing a country, England torn apart by Civil War by those who rebelled against their figurehead.
John Locke was American, and is known as 'The Father of Liberalism'. During the time that your great country, America was struggling to break free from the bonds of England, he developed a theory about how government over people should be: that the people are entitled to appointing their leaders, and those leaders should adhere to what they say, and not the other way around.
Finally there was the Parisian philosopher Rousseau, who declared that in his ideology that society is poison and people should govern themselves, make their own rules and live by them. His Theory of Natural Human stated much more about this, and brought about much thought and debate during the French Revolution.
Three crazy, conflicted men am I correct? Out of the three, John Locke sounds about the most sane to you. But, I will tell you now that these three, despite their conflicting ideologies sir contributed to something even greater than themselves.
These three philosophers helped to form The Social Contract, which you may recall if you did any study in political endeavors is typically addressing the questions of the origin of society, and the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual.
It's funny, how differing viewpoints can help found something great, perhaps a nation called America that sought freedom for the right of all. Each person has their own rights to their being, religion and viewpoint, but are also expected to respect each other under God and country. Even those of us who have difficulties, who come in praying and hoping for safety.
What I'm trying to make a point out of all of this, Mr. Trump, is that your ideology will be seen as racist and overblown. Even I shake my head at you and all there is to come... But who knows what is to come? I certainly don't approve of your presidential campaign and many of your views... but people were the same with Obama.
And Bush.
And Clinton.
And Reagan.
And Carter...
The list goes on and on. Nothing has changed, everyone will not like you. Some will, many won't. I'm one of the ones who won't, for the safety and security of my girlfriend, one of your citizens. Hillary isn't much better though, so I'm letting this go for everyone to read.
I may be an outsider, but I can see what's going on from up here. I'm in my own country, a Liberal country... falling in debt. We're not better than you in any way. I see things as black and white, but I also see a little bit of grey. And this is a big smudge of it. I don't support Donald Trump... but, really who supported many of the other presidents? Probably only the first two or three were loved. Abraham Lincoln was so hated he was killed! As were a few other presidents in your history. So, this is what I see. Maybe you can see it too.
