Not seen anything, he was linked with the Sunderland job but the honest truth is that the level of manager in the Premier League right now is very high so it was probably always a bit of a long shot to assume he'd walk into a club. I'm guessing he'll probably have to drop down to championship level at least to earn his stripes.

He said something about waiting for the right opportunity or something, I think

He wanted a Premier League job, and there aren't a lot of openings right now.

Pure speculation, but I suspect he doesn't want to go somewhere where there is a decent chance of abject failure (i.e. relegation or inability to secure promotion). He wants to manage United, and if he fails at a small club because it's a bad situation it might torpedo his long term ambitions.

Some managers are built for the big lights and probably wouldn't cut it in the lower divisions or with small budgets.

His chances of getting the level of job he wants probably went out the window for this year when Celtic hired Rodgers.
