I haven't gone through all the threads and reviews but it seems like it's mixed and leaning towards the negative?

I don't feel very "heartbroken" (i guess it's a good word), because BvS got bad reception but I saw it 7 times lol..

So just see and judge for yourself..

The reviews for BvS really hit me hard when the embargo was lifted. I waited 3 years for that movie -- 3 effin years, and critics are trashing it. But you know what? I downloaded the soundtrack after seeing the movie, saw it 5 more times on IMAX 70mm, 1 time in regular, and 1 time in DOLBY atmos for the UC screening. It was worth it I tell ya.

I've never understood, why can't they figure out that a movie isn't going to be good? So many people are involved, pre, during, and post. Is it really a surprise that other people don't like it?

Marvel's success has made them restless and they are hastening production on everything without proper nurturing and build up.

It's usually down to misunderstanding what audiences want. Plus when Transformers and 50 Shades Of Grey makes bank, it can be hard to define what is a "good" film for studios. Plus add in that these big budget movies are less one person's vision than they are a committee's vision. And sometimes, if it is one person's vision, that vision doesn't work. Not trying to spark a debate, but look at Marvel. They're not afraid to completely gut a film, reshoot and retool it in editing it if it's not working, for example; Thor: The Dark World changing from being a darker sequel to a lighter one and adding more of what test audience's liked (namely Loki) due to the darker tone not working.

Audiences and critics are also notoriously hard to predict. The film that may be set to have audiences love it can have them hating it and vice versa. The whole business is filled with risks and sometimes they don't work out.

They do now. They have Geoff Johns. But his influence won't be felt until Wonder Woman at the earliest (as that's still in editing and reshoots are likely on the way) and his full influence will be felt in Justice League (which many who attended the set visit are saying looks a lot better than BVS).

Lmao, didn't Geoff Johns also have some influence over Green Lantern? He was co-producer and creative consultant. Look how that turned out. Doubt Johns will have a big impact on the current state of the DCEU.

Dude, I know exactly how you feel about BvS reviews. I remember word going around back when Tim Burton was working on a Superman movie that he'd eventually do a Batman/Superman team up movie. This was more than 20 years ago I think. Then I saw that little easter egg in I Am Legend in 2007....shit dude BvS had over 20 years of hyper and I don't think a lot of people are fully aware of the pressure that was put on the crew behind that movie.

I don't agree with critics most of the time but the thing is reviews do matter. If they keep making films with mixed to negative reviews, the DCEU isn't going to last. That is the sad fact. I will probably enjoy Suicide Squad, and I did enjoy Batman V Superman, but reviews do sadly matter.
