Where should Timothy Fosu-Mensah play this season? (self.reddevils)

personally i would be happy to see him stay at fullback and only play in midfield in the occasional cup game or something. I love his energy and he will clearly be a top player in the future if he continues to develop well but right now i really do not trust his passing enough for midfield.

I just want him to play. His best chance of doing so will be at full back i would have thought.

Ultimately id love to see him develop into a Beast of a CM capable of breaking up play and launching attacks but only time will tell.

His best position is probably CB but I can see him getting games at RB to facilitate gametime much like Smalling and Jones did.

His real potential is playing DM(or cb), with that in mind I feel playing RB would hinder/waste time of his development.

For me, He either gets game time as cb/dm, or he goes on loan to some top-flight club where he can be a regular at to get important minutes under his belt.

Edit: I feel a loan would not hurt if needed, as he is only 18.

Premier League

He plays 3 positions, RB where Darmian and Valencia play naturally and Jones and Young can cover so he would be at most third in the depth chart there. DM where Carrick, Schneiderlin and Blind play and if everything goes in order Pogba can play too so that's 4 players in front of him in the depth chart. He also plays CB where Smalling, Bailly, Blind, Jones and Rojo if Jose doesn't sell him (if he sells him he will probably buy an experienced center back ), so he is there 5th in the chart but competing for 2 places even though i really doubt that Mourinho will play so young player in a position he values so much as a core of his team. So that means if he stays he will play 10 games at most all season. I'm not an expert and i don't know what he will benefit more: training with the first squad and play few games, learning from Mourinho in the process or going on a loan where he will play more regularly in a team like Burnley for example, but i think he should go somewhere and become a regular first team player for a season.
