Compare to the past... we seem to play less this season? Do you think it is enough?

How many did we play in the past? 4 games plus the community shield match seems like enough to me definitely

08/09 - 8 games

09/10 - 7 games

10/11 - 7 games

11/12 - 7 games

16/17 - 5 games (including cancelled and testimonial)

It seems we've reduced the number of games but not sure if that's a bad thing.

Interestingly every club in the top 6 and Chelsea are playing less pre season games as well. Barca, Madrid and Atletico only playing 4 as well. Maybe that's just the way football is trending now?

Plus there was a major tournament been played this summer so most of the players weren't back from their holidays up until mid/late july anyway. I don't think there's a point of playing a friendly with a bunch of academy and 2nd team players with almost none of the first team members available just for the sake of playing a friendly.

Well, we should have had one more by now and we knew we'd have the Shield to play. Should be enough, especially since we got (most) of our business done early.

Most big squads had a number of players missing from the tournaments anyway, so everyone might be disjointed out of the gate.
