Perfect explanation for BTC prices...

Indeed... Especially when he does the double up thumb flip... Waiting for that price explosion off the bounce from the bottom... When ever that happens...

Crashing all the way up from $200 1 year ago.

The market needs to shake out the weak.

YTD it is up $328 but let's not get into semantics. The surge from last year came from the lack of miners/advanced mining hardware.

Watch your words, if the market shakes out the weak, and nobody reacts, then everyone left with BTC loses if it continues to crash.

Where do you get the idea that there was a lack of miners/"advanced mining hardware" last year?

Lack was the wrong word, there were LESS miners and LESS advanced hardware available and a reasonable price. That is more specific.

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that there were actually more miners a year ago. Bitcoin mining has become less profitable for small operations, especially since the halving. As for the idea of "less advanced hardware", you could say that about any year that Bitcoin has existed. Technology is constantly improving. I don't see how either of these things have anything to do with the current price of BTC.

Why do you think the number/quality of mining hardware is at all relevant? The block reward is mostly independent of the hash rate.

This is normal in our world. Relax.

Buy. Hodl. Move on.

Normal to what degree? What percentage drop will you accept before you sell? I know I sound like a panicking investor but I am holding.

I want to know if this is directly affected by the BTC meeting in China over the weekend.

There are serious macro trends that I'm trying to get a grasp on, specifically the BRIC countries adopting a cryptocurrency in lieu of the dollar.

i wont sell. i buy on the dips and add to the stack.

the value of my stack today doesnt matter if i dont plan to sell for ten years.

Wh-... why in coin's name would you want to sell while it's down?

Financial advisor here. Buying high and selling low is the number one best strategy.

The price drops when people want to sell more than buy. There's no way for you or anyone else to know why they sold. Whoever tells you they do is full of shit. Relax and hodl.

DO NOT sell out of panic. Last time this happened I sold the bitcoin someone gifted me at $585. Next morning it had gone back up to 670. I fully regret it ever since, Im currently waiting for it to drop there or close to buy again. Be patient! It will pay off.

I sold $100 worth last winter at 380something so that I could pay for a date with a girl that didn't work out past the weekend... Talk about kicking yourself.

Having been through:

  • $1 -> $32 -> $2
  • $2 -> $266 -> $100
  • $100 -> $1250 -> $200

This is fine.

If you think long term, sit still and do nothing. If you want to act like a trader, buy\sell regularly, sell. I use http://www.newsbtc.com/ very helpful, eg. http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/08/01/bitcoin-price-watch-intrarange/, help me because I sold a fair bit at $650 but sometimes I get it wrong.

[–]btcchefredditor for 3 months [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

Its normal to the highest degree and order. I will sell before it goes negative. I will not allow this asset to become a debt. Macro trends eh?

Yes, macro trends, things that make the world go round (aside from physics, of course).

Once it goes down in value even below your buying price it does not ever turn into debt.

How could a bitcoin or an ounce of gold ever become a debt?

What percentage drop will you accept before you sell?

If I wont sell my Bitcoin at $700 I'm sure as hell not going to sell it for less than $700

What percentage drop will you accept before you sell?

lol @ selling bitcoin, as if.

Lots of OTC buying :)

Price got too stable, made people nervous.

Well after halving its not so easy to push down the price so panic must be created. I think there is a whale effort to push down price to pick up some cheap coins before the ETI's and ETF's get into full swing.

Nah. the core did not uphold its agreement with chinese miners yesterday. no segwit and no hf, which was promissed to them. So ppl loose confidence.

There's my answer! I had to look a little further down the screen. Chinese miners did not get what they went, and they don't take kindly to that. Makes perfect sense.

So they are trying to make the product they produce less valuable? No. There is clear increase in short interest. Let the shorters shake out the weak hands.

exactly miners no matter what snags happen tech wise do not want lower prices. lol

[–]Sugar_Daddy_Peter [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Also it's a breakout from a loong range of tightening. It had gone sideways too long. Needed a big move up or down. Market chose down for now.

Lol they didn't get what they wanted so they're going to devalue their holdings to get back at everyone?

It's because Chinese miners did not fork like they said they would. Whether or not you agree they should, that is likely the reason for the decline.

You wont get an accurate answer to this because no one knows.

Enjoy the ride.

Price inversely correlates to ETC (ethreum classic, pre hard fork) price raise since a couple of days ago

its a fools game trying to rationalize emotional behavior

emotions drives markets after all, so probably smarter to understand how that works.

This is not a crash, being down 5 percent is nothing for Bitcoin. Too many noobs don't know how the game is played...

There's another bitcoin sub that'll explain it. Tl;dr bitcoin developers don't give a shit about us. Just miners. It's a centralized party

[–]Sugar_Daddy_Peter [スコア非表示]  (4子コメント)

Sell all your coins then. Price has tripled in the last year.

Tell that to people who owned Enron.

[–]Sugar_Daddy_Peter [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

Sell all your coins if you think Bitcoin is Enron. This market doesn't need weak hands.

Ah, the old reverse psychology pump ;-)

It's sold on an exchange, whether a commodity or a stock, every financial instrument is capable of being destroyed/brought to zero value.

So it was perfectly fine when Jeff Garzik and Gavin had secret meetings with Chinese miners, but if Core doing so Bitcoin is doomed?

Neptune got hit by an asteroid

Everyone knows the earth is flat dude! hehe

Those are two unrelated issues. One does not exclude the other. Now I wonder if Neptune is flat as well and if so what effect an asteroid hitting it had.

[–]btcchefredditor for 3 months [スコア非表示]  (4子コメント)

Analytics tell me there are more sellers than buyers. How's that?

People using their BTC to buy ETC. Lol

[–]Jdamb [

Check the price action of other real money,, gold, silver and oil. It all makes sense to me.

Gold and silver are going up, oil is dipping, I don't see any correlations.
