Hey, maybe you can convince CDPR to buy the Mass Effect IP.... if you think it would be in better hands there,

Wow everyone here is a negative nancy. Some person could trip at the offices and have to take a day off leave and you will all say "OH MY GOD ANDROMEDA MUST BE IN A TERRIBLE POSITION".

These forums are a blight and it's good that they're getting shut down. As a whole these forums are terrible and filled with negativity.

With facebook, youtube, twitch, twitter, tumblr, reddit there's no need for forums anyways. There's so many other, better forms of communication between the devs and fan base.

If the ME:A is bad, there's no need for forums to say that it's bad. People will take to these other, better forms of communication to talk about how it's bad.

Although I agree that these forums have been very negative and found that more than a little frustrating and would have dearly loved to see some people clean up their acts, I still can't understand how Bioware would think shutting the forums off at this particular time and then taking them right down in October would be a "good" thing for future sales of ME:A or help in building a new community around ME:A..

There is still a lot of good information to be found here... a lot of it contained in the strategy section discussions and other subforums (things like build recommendations, weapons test results, how to beat the SM in ME2) that will essentially be lost.  I can't count the number of times a question in google about ME has lead me to a forum thread here that has been really helpful.  It's a lot of that early trial and error information derived here that eventually found it's way into the Wiki.  With ME:A coming... there were probably going to be quite a few new people coming here over the next few months doing first playthroughs of the old Trilogy.  I've even seen a new blind play through of the Trilogy start up on YouTube in just the past couple of months.

With the additional emotional hurt that dedicated fan base will, no doubt, feel about the forum shutdown and the fact that they are being forcibly scattered to the wind, I've got to wonder just where Bioware hopes the fan drive will come from to create such a wonderful Wiki for ME:A.

Rather vote for her than have a fascist fool as president. That's a fate worse than death. Sure she stole the delegates but that's nothing compared to the evil and hate that is Trump.

Yikes, we're getting into politics now, huh? Uh, oh. Oh well, this forum is going down anyway.

You know, I'd say I'm a Liberal (not the regressive-left SJW type), and I'm not going to to say Trump is the perfect candidate, but I'd vote for Trump over Hillary every single time. Can you point out anything that ACTUALLY shows Trump is a racist, sexist or homophobe? Because all I ever hear is "He's Hitler!"

Nah, I don't think Andromeda is going to be underwhelming.

BioWare just needs a safe space where users just kiss their bums 24/7.

Hmm, but from a business standpoint, if BW felt that MEA was underwhelming, they probably WOULDN'T close down the forums before its release because they'd probably know that people would suspect that was the reason for the Forum's closure, and BW would know there'd be backlash and ill feelings and that it would then maybe lead to people not buying MEA. Not that I'm an expert or anything. Basically, it's a bad move from a business stand point.

I would have loved to have been fly on the wall when they were discussing its closure.

Alright, I'll assume you're just ignorant and don't pay attention to anything

-Mexicans are rapists

-All Muslims are terrorists

-"Look at my African-American over there! Look at him!"

-"I think women working is dangerous to society."

-"When I come home and my dinner isn't ready I go through the roof."

I find it extremely weird that these forums are closing under the pretense that devs cannot (or will not) communicate with us as they can on twitter and fb. What will happen when ME:A comes out? Are they hoping people will go to some EA forum to discuss multiplayer? This is just so nonsensical that I do not think the devs working on ME:A had any say in this matter.

But even with this thought, I am now very unsure about ME:A. It will turn out a great game, I am sure, but I am turned off by it now. The decision to close the forum has left me ultra skeptical.

You might not mind that he is racist, but that does not mean he isn't. I am very intrigued to see what the USA will do and what will happen in a few months. All I hope is that you don't ruin other countries more than you already did (you being the government).

How does this forum existing prevent social media buzz? It makes no sense.

Since when do we need dev interaction to post here?

It made me scratch my head too.

Why would it be too early? The game is already playable in the studio, so surely they know the requirements already.

Playable does not mean that it's been sufficiently tested on enough PCs to get a good clear picture of the lowest possible hardware spec. Minimum specs are usually announced after plenty of testing, which is later during development.

The system requirements of Dragon Age Inquisition were announced a month and one week before the game's release. Looking at the competition: Deus Ex 4 has been completed and comes out in three and a half weeks. Despite that, it has no system requirements yet.

This is very strange.  I would think it would make more sense to pull the plug a few months after release.  The fact they're killing it before the major N7 day reveal is a bit concerning.  I cannot help but think that there is something fundamentally wrong with the game.  This is the kind of thing you do when you've changed the product so dramatically that you know the backlash is going to be colossal.  Maybe they scrapped the RPG elements?  I just don't get it.

That discussion:
EA: Close the forums!
BW:yes master

Discussion over...

Seriously this has to have come from EA, unless bioware are very worried about ME:A...

Closing the forums have nothing to do with Andromeda. Bioware and/or EA just decided that giving this space for their fans is not worth the effort.

Because viewing feedback...stresses them.

Every other dev takes it head on, but they're apparently a sensitive lot over at Bioware.

YouTube is almost entirely negative and full of low-effort comments. However, Reddit (r/dragonage at least) is pretty balanced - if you dislike a BioWare game, then carefully thought-out constructive criticism (however negative) will still get upvoted, but rabid, poorly worded, irrational hate gets downvoted. I'm a lurker on r/dragonage and admittedly it is in general a place for fans, but there are plenty of people who hate one or more of the Dragon Age games. Those people don't get silenced. Your opinion will be respected as long as you express yourself thoughtfully. It's a very friendly place and they don't get defensive if you hate a certain game.

As for Twitter, I don't go there because I don't think the character limit is particularly conducive to any kind of interesting debate. I do however greatly appreciate the efforts of the people on the Twitter thread for scouring the site to find gems of tantalising info and the occasional funny developer post.

Dear followers,

I have decided to close down church. It's a place where you guys can worship me, but lately I've been spending more time checking out stuff out on YouTube and Instagram than listening to you people sing. So no more church, make me funny stuff on social media, or show some sexy pics, you know stuff I like. Some Bible cosplay, I dig that.

Bye.

God
