That is what I’m waiting to see. Now that homosexuals can “marry” one another, I’ve been waiting to see just how messy lesbian divorces will be.
I figure gay divorces will be pretty straightforward – no pun intended. While they’re fags, they’re still men and should be able to split amicably and with a fair division of the assets.
By definition, lesbian divorces will involve two women and each will be trying to play the victim card. That should lead to quite a bit of delightful nastiness.
While I believe a couple of high profile Hollywood dykes have split with their “wives”, there hasn’t been enough published about those divorces to catch my admittedly limited attention.
Oddly enough, one unintended side effect of lesbian divorces may be divorce reform. The recent changes in UK law striking down life time alimony and tinkering with child supports awards has been sparked by complaints from women. It seems once the poor dears got those good paying jobs and had to start supporting their “less fortunate” ex-husbands, women “suddenly” realized just how “unfair” alimony and child support can be.
Once enough lesbians get raked over the coals in divorce court by their ex-wives, women might “suddenly” realize just how “unfair” divorce can be too.
I’m not holding my breath however.
