I'd like to start off by saying that yes, I'm upset by the way Niantic is handling the current state of the game, and yes, I'm mad about tracking and the radius and spawn timers. Don't think I'm not also upset.

But I'm not going to stop playing the game. And here's why.

If we stop playing, if we all boycott Pokémon Go, Niantic will think it has been a failure and stop supporting it. They will let this ship sink and we will lose what is potentially the greatest Pokémon game ever. I've seen how it has brought people together. Even in my smallish town, where you never see people just walking down the steet, I've seen hundreds of people outside, enjoying themselves. It's peraonally gotten me out of a shut-in rut, and if it goes away I know I'll just go back to being solitary again. Aside from my own personal experience, I've seen just how happy it's made people. And when it works, it's a fun game. I've played every Pokémon game, starting way back with the release of Red and Blue. Sure, there's nostalgia in there for me, but I genuinely love how this game has impacted the way I live, and the way people I see on a daily basis interact with each other.

But the game isn't working the way we want it to.

So here's my solution. Or what, at least, I intend to do. I will not uninstall Pokémon Go. I will continue to try to be the very best, like no one ever was. And I will continue sending Niantic feedback. Making a game this huge, without realizing it was going to be this huge, is a task I don't envy. There are going to be bugs, updates, changes, and setbacks. We need to let Niantic know that even if we don't support what they have done with the game, that still support the idea. We still want to go outside, catch Pokémon in the real world with friends new and old. We want this to be a game we love. And we want it to last. I want to still be playing this game in 3 years, hopefully with a working tracker, Pokémon from newer generations released, and more features like battling eachother, trading, legendary events, and more.

None of this will happen if we all give up and let it die. We need to continue supporting Pokémon Go, and continue voicing our concerns. Niantic has made their money. They could just drop the project and let it stagnate if we all stop playing. I want to see this game become more than it is, and it needs all of us to stand together for that to happen.

TL;DR - Pokémon Go is a great idea, a great game that has done a lot of good for a lot of people, and even if you don't support Niantic, please continue supporting Pokémon Go so it doesn't get forgotten. Keep sending complaints but please don't stop playing. Ash wouldn't quit. This is a stumbling stone, a turning point, and we can either help fix it or run it into the ground.

Will you be the very best, like no one ever was? Or will you faint under the pressure? I stand with Pokémon Go.

Well for one thing it wouldn't be wrong for Niantic to think this game was a failure, it was a massive one, I don't think this game could ever be "the greatest Pokemon game ever"

It has the potential to be the greatest one. This could be the game I envisioned when I started playing pokemon almost 20 years ago, but never thought there would be the technology or creativity to make it happen. It's just sad at this point that there are people more willing to let it die than to wait it out and fight for the game we want.

But that's the thing, fighting for the game we want simply isn't in the equation when we're dealing with Niantic, ingress players told us and we really should have listened. Niantic isn't going to listen to us just like the majority of us ignored the ingress players.

I played Ingress as well. I know how little Niantic has been known to listen. However, they are/were a small team of 20-30 people dealing with millions of new users. It wasn't enough to keep up with Ingress' smaller community, and definitely not enough to keep up with PoGo's users. They are hiring more people, specifically people to run their social media, community outreach, and customer service. And hopefully, these new people will actually get something done and communicate with us.

fuck this shit in the ass. again.

hire more people. you're launching a fucking game. you just made a shitload of fucking money. its been a god damn month. these excuses are tired.

They are hiring new people. It's slow. I work for a small company, and hiring isn't the easiest thing to do, especially when you have to continue working on what you already have on your plate. As they hire more people, the pace will increase.

you act like nobody in this country wants a job,

its really not that hard to find people to work. most positions are flooded with qualified responses.

And being flooded with resumes and applications slows down the process. Having been in the position of someone who is hiring people for multiple positions, I know it is a process to go through every application, throw out unqualified or joke submissions, and find the best people for the job. How many applications do you think Niantic has gotten from "Ash Ketchum" from people who think it's funny? If it was as simple as you think it is, the problem would already have been solved.

shit. honestly it doesn't even really matter if you get the best employee as long as you get a qualified employee in their quickly to get to work.

you can tidy up once you can keep up.

even if they did get a bunch of resumes from ash ketchum... yeah it would take all of .5 seconds to throw out each copy.
