Everyone DOES realize that the reason for taking away the steps was a TEMPORARY thing, right?

They are fixing the problem now, and just took them away till they do.

And by the way, just for funzies, what's the difference between having no steps and having the three steps there?? Nothing. It's the same bloody thing! Get over it.

Logically, probably, yes. But a simple "Hey players, here's why we did this, it'll be fixed eventually," would go a LONG way to easing people's minds. Because really we can't do anything but assume they're temporarily gone without official communication.

EVERYONE does NOT realize that the reason for taking away the steps MAY be a TEMPORARY thing, right? They MAY BE fixing the problem now, and MIGHT have taken them away 'till they do. Unless you are a dev for Niantic, you have no clue why they did what they did, and since we're aren't worth communicating with, we have no idea: hence = RAGE ! ! ! ! !Q !Q :)

It's only logical though right? If I were a dev and and something wasn't working, I'd take it out and them put it back in after I fixed it.

Actually, on the other pokemon thread, they are saying that sources in the company are saying it's DEAD because people were using the tracking to trespass, and that's a far greater concern than not seeing where they are at all. So, at this point, it's WAY WAY WAY more likely that it's gone perm rather than getting fixed. :(

That was my thought. Unless they changed it where pokemon don't move up or down the list as you walk it's the same you just have to know how to use the tracker. That aside it's still rather annoying having no footprints.

I like the visual of the foot steps, it makes it feel like a U.I. to me. Even though it's still a U.I. without the footsteps. It's the same for me with physical vs. digital. i'd rather own physical copys so I have something physical even though it's the same content.

Niantic has removed third party tracking apps though, so that's why everyone is actually mad now. The game is broken and there's no work around. Also I'm sure most people were expecting a "fix" not for a removal of the feature, and there's no evidence if it's temporary or not.

i agree, they are going to fix it eventually they even said they will. And I think having no steps is a little less confusing for new players or casual players that don't understand that its a bug. If there are steps, you'd THINK they would go down as they get closer, so having no steps won't give that confusion. Does anyone know if the nearby screen doesn't clear the pokemon that AREN'T actually nearby still? or is that still broken?

When did they say they'd fix it? The ONLY thing I've heard is "We're aware of the issue" followed swiftly by "HEY LET'S SHOW EVERYONE THE TEAM LEADER'S NAMES SO THEY FORGET THEY'RE ANGRY!"

If there were a reliable source for that, I feel it'd be one of the #1 posts on the subreddit, it's why I've been coming here, but I haven't found it. $200 says it's a legal issue with trespassing "Don't trespass to play Pokemon Go" is a new thing you have to click "OK" on, there's absolutely no way that made it in there unless they were legally required to put it in.

People are pissed at the lack of communication about an incredibly important issue, not the issue itself.

The CEO specifically said that they were not a fan of people being able to track pokemon outside of the game. And then they disabled it inside the game and outside.

well. We both know if they dont fix this they have killed ther own game so ye my bet is they gonne fix it.

They obviously wouldn't intentionally kill their own game, but what's not known is the estimated timeline, reason, solution, etc. and being in the dark is going to just cause players to speculate wildly.

To elaborate: The tracking bug has existed for about a month now and still no fix. This means one of the following: 1-They don't know how to fix it yet. 2-They do know how to fix it but currently lack the resources. 3- They do know how to fix it but it's taking a while, and will be done soon (probably the best-case scenario here). 4-They do know how to fix it but it's not a high priority for them and other issues are currently taking up their time/attention (I'd assume this is the least likely scenario).

None of these scenarios (except maybe 3) fills me with much confidence. They all mean the company is either struggling with the disparity between the game's unexpected popularity and the size/quality of their own dev team (which can be a death sentence for a buggy game) or they're not in touch with their playerbase's priorities (also a potential death-sentence).

I'd say the first is probably more likely. The fact that they made it impossible to transfer favorites suggests they ARE listening to their players and are probably just struggling to keep up with the game's explosive popularity, but the lack of communication means we can only speculate, and that is not something you want your players to have to do when your game has this many issues.

How do you know that they're fixing the problem? As far as I know, they haven't addressed the issue at all, let alone said anything about fixing it.

I guess what I meant by addressing the problem is that they haven't publicly said anything about it. They are keeping their fans in the dark and I think that's a big reason as to why people are pissed.
