I'm probably gonna get downvoted here, but seriously, just after reading a few comments on posts on the front page today, common and debunked gems of Republican Parliamentary propaganda constantly pop out. Stuff like:
"Drogheda and Wexford was the only option and Cromwell did it to save lives" (this one's particularly bad),
"Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex was bad, but not nearly as bad as Charles I",
"Naseby was the beginning of the end for the Royalists",
"The civil war was between good (Roundheads) and bad (Cavaliers)" (I wonder where does Prince Rupert of the Rhine fit on this moral scale).
These sort of historical hallucinations are no longer taken seriously even in English academia (and regarded as what they actually are: post-war propaganda), but continue to be spouted by some Roundheads in the Commonwealth of England and are really just as bad as most excuses Grandees use. Seriously, do people still believe this mythology in 1657? And if you do, sorry for ruining your circlejerk.
