Discussion on Youth Players within 1st Team (self.reddevils)

There has been a lot of talk recently about the futures of our younger players (Januzaj, Wilson, Keane, TFM, CBJ, BoJack, McNair, Blackett, A. Pereira, Johnstone). What do you all expect/ hope to happen to these players?

My personal hope is for Januzaj, Wilson, Andreas, and McNair to be loaned out to a low end or mid-table BPL side for good experience. We further retain Johnstone, TFM, CBJ, and BoJack for the first half of the season and then loan out some/all of those 3 based on performance or usage. Finally, I believe it's time to depart with Will Keane and Blackett since to my eye they are championship players at best.

Any other thoughts that aren't media linked debauchery?

    Then he makes the same mistake twice... what is strange though is when he lists 4 names (two of which are CBJ and BoJack, so the same guy), he refers to them as "those 3".

    Rates for re-sharpening and honing are cheaper in May but sometimes you don't know if you'll need it then or not.

    Ok, Bojack is Cameron Borthwick Jackson.

    In my opinion-

    Players that will have a future at Utd:

    Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, Tuenzebe, Williams, Gomes, Chong

    Players that may have a future at Utd:

    Warren, Pereira, CBJ (Shaw is always going to be in front of him), Gribbin, Wilson

    Players that have no future at Utd:

    Januzaj, Keane, McNair, Blackett, Johnstone,

    Agreed on most all players. I'm slightly more optimistic on Pereira and CBJ, moving them into the first category. Though Paddy and Sam will have this season and for Johnstone possibly next before they're moved on IMO.

    If we didn't have Shaw I'd say CBJ definitely would have a future, however, as it stands I just dont see him ever being anything more than a back up, which I don't think will be good enough for him so I can see him moving away.

    Pereira I think could go either way, but he seriously needs competitive football.

    I'm really hoping Pereira does have a future, think under Jose's guidance he could kick on (not this season but next).

    I think CBJ will prosper regardless, great confidence and an impressive crosser of the ball.

    Januzaj & McNair I'd like to see back after a seasons loan but surely time is running out(Januzaj mainly)

    I hope so too, he needs a run of competitive games though.

    I just don't think CBJ will be happy to be Shaw's back up for his entire career so can see him wanting away at some point.

    In fairness though, if he hadn't gotten the few games last year, he wouldn't have expected much himself.

    He seems like a clever lad and I'm sure he'd be happy to be around the squad and learn for at least a season and then maybe try a loan. I wouldn't see him as a viable contender for about 2 years.

    I know he's not far off Shaw age-wise but Shaw had a lot of experience at an early stage

    Pereira needs top level football so a loan suits him. Same goes for Wilson and McNair. But push comes to shove I'd be most at a loss if we let Pereira go.

    Fosu-Mensah will get games this season and should continue his development between the u21s and first team. CBJ will do the same I would imagine but a loan for him wouldn't surprise me. Tuanzebe and Roshaun may get in a few cup squads and would do better staying in house this season. Sam Johnstone, too.

    For the most part the rest can go. Couldn't be bothered if Januzaj or Keane left. Stings a bit for certain players but in the cold light of Mourinho's morning some just aren't good enough to be here anymore.

    Januzaj doesn't have the mental forte for a loan. He needs to go, best to Sunderland, with a buyback fee.

    The guy has too much of a high opinion of himself.
