Until now I have been having a blast playing the game. But the grind is wearing me down at lvl23. I started thinking about what other games could come close to this level of worldwide engagement. And I actually cannot think of anything. There is not other game with such a wide variety of characters and with a fanbase this big. It will be hard pressed for anyone to try and replicate this game with any meaningful amount of content. Which also got me thinking how much better it would have been if more of the actual Pokemon game mechanics were in this game. It may not have been as simple for new users to understand but at least the gameplay would not have to be sacrificed to such an extent of just tapping on screen and swiping up. I am disappointed in the leveling system that gives no benefits after level 30. And I am much more disappointed that this is the game that we have gotten as fans of the franchise. This is what is we are left with, now that the hype is dying down. I am seeing much less lures at regular intervals than before and the realization that the company that made this possible does not care about the user base or the reasons why we care. The ingress players have known this and warned us, it is all coming true. Sure there will be more generations, more items and maybe a level cap increase. But what is the point if it is going to be such an exponential increase. Since the game has been out I have been obsessed. I have gone out everyday even if it was raining. And now recently I just do not care. I am not someone who avoids exercise, I just get bored of repeating things quickly. I was hoping this game would keep things unique enough so that when I go out I do not have the lingering feeling of "what else could I be doing, rather than this". But now I am back to my old habits and did not even want to touch the game the past couple of days. Since I heard of how this games gameplay would be, my expectations have been that "it will keep my walks and daily activities unique and enjoyable". But this game has let me down on gameplay, the companies cooperation and now this. But that is fine, I had my 3 weeks of absolute fun. This being a F2P game, it satisfied me enough that I have spent the equivalent to a AAA games worth of time. My biggest let down is that this is probably the only official new Pokemon game we will get on mobile for at least a very long time. This is what we are stuck with and even though I want to help make it so much better than it is, what is the point if Niantic won't respond to anything. Niantic has let me down, and removed all of my hope that this game will be more than a passing fad. I guess I am ready to be downvoted to oblivion by all the people that still believe Niantic will do something. But just looking at game companies in the past couple years. Blizzard, Bethesda, CDPR, EA, Ubisoft. Some of these have communicated with their fanbase and that franchise is still going strong to this day, yet others haven't and all I hear about that franchise is negativity and caution. This is still a game, and if it not rewarding enough to replace other things then the game itself will be replaced by something else. Is the past 3 weeks of this game making tons of money enough to convince Nintendo to release something better? I don't but I doubt it. One of the main reason the full Pokemon games are still doing well is due to the competitions and PoGo does not have that yet.
