That was the ugliest thread I'd seen yet. It's a pity that censorship rather than the morals of the community are needed to prevent it from being one of the top stories on this subReddit.

There are clearly people here whose morals are entirely comparable to those of the attacker and who advocate attacks to harm others, even after having been given reprieve from an attack themselves through the efforts of others. Sick.

Agreed, however this community takes very strongly after its leadership and hopefully this serves as an example to those who thought aggression was a good idea and could lead them on a path of introspection to find out why they are wrong.

Can introspection fix bias or greed?

Saying not welcome, is not the same as censorship.

Don't overreact please..

Removing speech that is not welcome is censorship however. Simply saying it is unwelcome is not censorship.

But I am not saying that all forms of censorship are immoral in the least. The moderators are the owners of the sub and they are free to take the actions they deem necessary for the sub to function according to their desires. If they make mistakes they have to live with the consequences, but the same is true if they choose wisely.

I would agree that in keeping this sub aligned with goal of advancing Ethereum, individuals and posts who openly propose and seek recruits for attacks should be removed from the sub.

Nice, thanks for this.

Agree with the intention, but not sure that was the right solution, as censure is a delicate topic on crypto communities. Why not just make an official statement criticizing the thread, and leave it up as a bad example? Pretty sure that would cause more effect on the original posters than hiding the mess, while keeping controversy away.

Agreed, I don't think deleting was helpful. More anger here, more "ETH is censoring again" at the ETC community.

The only aggressive behavior I see here on a constant basis is attacks from anti-ETH people (regardless if they're from bitcoin or "true original" Ethereum fans) onto this subreddit (call it "ethereum" or "fork ethereum" if you wish).

FYI, for those of you who get easily riled up, best way to respond to people whose behavior you disagree with is to simply not respond. Just downvote and ignore.

EDIT: Just a comment on vote brigading. It's interesting to note that my comment was immediately downvoted negatively, and the reply had +4 votes within a few minutes (I know this bc I'm a loser who refreshes constantly). Then, as natural flow of readers comes in, my comment goes up and his goes down. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I've witnessed this phenomenon. There is definitely vote stuffing going on in basically every topic.

Thank you! The idea of 51%attack was embarrassing. I sold my all ETC because of ethical issues, but it was my risk and my decision. Treating ETC investors as enemies has a bad karma. Let them go their way. Good luck!

Censorship usually works well. I'm sure now no one will discuss it and everyone will just forget all about it.

On the plus side it's nice that the mods are setting standards that include not organizing an attack on another blockchain. Something arguably worse than the original DAO hack that started all this in the first place.

This is like the anti /r/bitcoin we've taken to censoring the Ethereum maximalists!

My brain has reached its capacity for abstraction.

Hash and let hash brothers and sisters!

Morals, yo. Pfft

+1 .. censoring it under the guise of morals was a very pro-etc move.

Maybe it s time for Bruce Wanker to make an update about this.

I actually lost my temper reading that thread, it was amazing how such naked hypocrisy was being upvoted with no trace of self-awareness. I'm hardly pro-censorship but let's hope that thread deletion serves as a bit of a wake-up smack in the face for the people calling for warfare and digital blood. Not cool.

Happy to see that.

We desperately need something better than reddit for our Ethereum community.

Not that it will change the nature of the human(s), but the "censorhip" can be implemented on the level of every community member.

If you are concerned about what you are posting, it can change a lot.

true... but the same people will just join the new media... same problem as before

so is the thread archived somewhere? I wanted to take a look.

Bravo. Keep up the faith. Not the fight. The faith.

Thank you for censorship! You are a true democrat and libertarian now!

Funny how pro-forkers were previously lecturing us about morals... Suddenly that's not so important when their money is at risk.

Clearly it was never about morals; the fork was only ever about protecting $$$.

The financial incentives are the main motive behind most points of view in this space unfortunately. That's why it is important to stick to facts and focus on technical aspescts.
