I've only noticed a fishy smell immediately after unprotected sex. (My SO got a vasectomy.) And it goes away very quickly. Does anyone else have this experience?

Yep, normally it just kinda smells like ... sweat, I guess. Same kinda musk male genitals have.

After unprotected sex when he finishes inside, though? Oh my god what the fuck did he just put inside of me? It smells horrid. Even after a shower, it'll still smell like that for another day or two.

I've come to the conclusion that the fishy smell must be some social commentary remnant from yeeeears ago before the condom era, and it's a result of semen + vaginal fluid (I don't actually know what semen smells like by itself, I've heard it smells like bleach?) and now it's passed along by the immature "lol fish vagina amirite guys" ignorant types.

Interestingly, I only get a smell if my fiance and I used a condom during sex. It doesn't last too long, but it's there.

Well I guess that's normal. But it seems like they were talking about something like "taking a girls pants off and a fishy smell hits you and it's all good"

Bacterial vaginosis causes a fishy smelling discharge. BV is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria for some (usually unknown) reason. Since it isn't really dangerous or uncomfortable for most women, eventually their vaginal pH and other vaginal conditions even out and the bacterial growth settles down and resolves without treatment. The bacteria don't usually affect male partners, so men are in no danger during a BV flare. I'm unsure about female partners, but it would make sense that lesbian swap vaginal bacteria during some sexual activities. Whether or not the non-BV partner develops BV would depend on her own vaginal environment though.
