How match fit is Pogba going to be? (self.reddevils)

It looks like baring any disaster Pogba is coming back to United, but he has been on holiday for a long time more than any player I have seen this summer. It seems like this transfer could drag onto next week at least by the time he arrives it could be a while before he catches up to the squad fitness wise.

Been mention by a few outlets he could miss the charity shield and maybe even the Bournemouth game. I cant wait to see him play for us again but it looks like it could take a fair while what are your thoughts?

Considering he is still on holiday? Not match fit at all. He will probably miss the first Premier League game completely and will cameo as a sub in the second. Community Shield is definitely out of the question.

If it only comes to fruit next weekend, I'll be surprised if he plays the second game even really.

Our players will have been a lot fitter than him in comparison that he's going to literally need to catch up on a lot of aspects of fitness/match fitness and such so much so that he may not be deemed suitable till a few reserve games then too.

I mean, they'd have trained for a few weeks by then and already played 2 competitive games (charity shield included really as it's not as relaxing as a friendly) and had a lot of mileage/ball work done too.

Just speculating here. But I suspect he'll be on a special program with intra squad friendlies to catch him up but not rush things either as that's not ideal for longer term aspects in the season.

I'm wondering why his vacation is longer than anyone else who participated in the Euros? He played through to the final sure, but doesn't the Italian league start before the premier league?

Nope, starts a week or two later. Premier League is the very first league that starts afaik.

I think the price tag wont faze him but a slow start isnt ideal, you know the press and other fans will be gagging for him to fail.

I'm not sure if they'll be gagging for him to fail I believe he's too big a player for them to push down. However other fans will try to crucify him every step he makes
