It looks like this might actually happen so I want to look at the secondary benefits of the Pogba transfer saga. I along with others don't believe that Juventus an historically frugal club is paying €89 million for a 29 year old striker unless they knew they would be selling Pogba for an even greater sum. Because of this, the market for strikers is facing mass inflation. You have reports of Arsenal getting turned down for Lacazette and Icardi with bids in excess of €50 million, which must cause Wenger to shit his fucking tightwad pants knowing he desperately needs a striker. Likewise with the reports of Chelsea bidding €55 plus million for Lukaku. Yes we did pay a shitload for one of the best young midfielders in the world, but now we get to see our rivals overbid and squirm as they try to sign strikers they know aren't good enough for the price tag.

No this is not "the pogba effect". It is actually the new premier league deal and CL deal effect because now clubs have got a massive increase in revenue streams, especially in the Premier league where even the 15th place teams make insane bank.

Another reason that the Pogba deal is so high is because we are desperate and Juventus have no need to selll and Pogba is tied on a long term deal with them. We need to improve our squad and Pogba will do that. If we were PL champions right now, we would probably not be paying this much for Pogba at all, because at the end of the day, CM's are usually never worth that bracket of money.

I agree with you that the new premier league TV deal is definitely a factor, but that does not change the fact that Juventus a non premier league team just spent the fourth largest transfer fee on Higuain. Setting the mark for his position very very high, at least for this transfer window.

I dont think we have anything to do with them not being able to sign Lacazette. All the clubs in other countries know that EPL has got TV money coming this year. But yes, we sure fucked any chance they had with Higuain.
