Ashley Williams Or Benedikt Höwedes would be perfect complementation to smalling

yes, Howedes would be great!

I'd really like Mustafi. It's a shame he seems to be Arsenal bound and that for an absolute bargain.

Is he?

It's only been really unreliable links so far hasn't it? And I keep reading about FFP balancing but Valencia fans are pretty adamant that the Gomes deal was enough for that. So all in all, I don't see Mustafi leaving for £21m.

You might be right. I can only remember reports linking him to arsenal for like £25m, but I don't remember the reliability.

No, I believe he's definitely on the market, but when I think of him, all I have are visions of Pogba sending him back to bed in the semis.

Sky Germany are reporting about £34m with £8m of that being bonuses

Seems like an underrated mention whenever this question gets asked lately...But I really would be satisfied with Miranda, he's experienced, and he's 31. Bonucci straight up won't happen and just I get the feeling Manolas won't leave. Koulibaly hasn't proven me enough yet for the type of calibre we need. Someone who's a leader and is experienced, Miranda fits that bill

Back in March when Di Marzio linked Miranda with us... I kinda could see this happening even though he's on a 2 year loan deal at Inter, maybe could force a buy

I don't think Rojo and Jones will leave. In terms of CB's there are none available that would be an improvement on what we have. I posted this yesterday which somes up what I think:

I'd be just as happy with one of Jones/Bailly/Blind/TFM/Tuanzebe partnering Smalling as I would be with any of Manolas/Toprak/Koulibaly/Mustafi/Murillo

We're lucky we got Bailly early in the window because now we're seeing Chelsea, City and Arsenal struggling to find a good CB for a good price and being forced to bid £38m on Koulibaly and £50m on Stones

I'm not sure who we should sign but I do think we should sign a proven CB and maybe a RB.

I'd say with Bailly and Smalling we've got our dedicated back two with Jones and Rojo as backups. We don't need anymore full backs as we have 2/3 in each spot that can play there.

Think we're done after Pogba apart from a few exits.

I hope we sign Fabinho

I'm happy with Valencia and Darmian personally

He can also play CDM. I remember Monaco using him there for their European games.

If Schweini leaves and depending on Blind, he's very young and might be a good buy.

I can't see us selling a multifunctional player who can cover fullback and DM in Blind only to replace him with a multifunctional player who can cover fullback and DM in Fabinho. If we sell Blind, there won't be a replacement, based on Mourinho's comments.

I hope not. We signed four starters (including Pogba). There's no more room for first year starters on the team. We need to do with what we have. Darmian is excellent on his day and I have no doubt he will be one of the best RBs under Mourinho and with a natural RW in Miki supporting him. Valencia is a more than capable backup. Mourinho put Varela on a loan who will hopefully also come back next season when Valencia drops

I feel we need a CB a lot more than we need a RB. Darmian showed promising signs last year and deserves a second chance as much as anyone

I actually think we're pretty set in defence. That is, if Bailly lives up to expectations and turns into a top level CB. We've got good back up across the back 4.

I'd like to keep hold of Blind for his versatility as an intelligent fill-in in almost all defensive positions and I'd like to keep Rojo and Jones if they are happy to stay.

There's still a part of me that thinks Jones has what it takes to be a starting CB, he's just been so long out of regular football.
