fuck you I watched the whole thing hoping she would take off her clothes to show the guy!

Holy shit they act like toddlers when they don't get their way. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these essentially the face of the Muslim religion?

I wouldn't go as far to say the "face" of Islam since not everyone knows who he is (and I'm not saying at all I'm the best Muslim, but we do not have anyone as "popular" as the Pope or "Dalai Lama" so this guy is more like a regular priest). You are right though, they do act very immature if no one listens to what they say.

Might get down voted for people interpreting this as racism but the 'respect' culture is heavily infused with the Lebanese and generally Arabs. You insult them and it is the worst thing you can do

No you are absolutely right. Many people think they deserve respect just because they practice a certain proficiency (even if they're pretty bad at it). Even though I am a muslim, some sheikhs say the stupidest shit you'll ever hear and try to justify themselves cause they are the 'authoretehhh' here, even if it's complete bullshit. Those kinds don't deserve any respect at all tbh.

Lebanese and generally Arabs.

I live in Utah and my local Mormon leaders act a similar way. I think this issue stems more for the religious leaders constantly surrounding themselves by people that are extremely agreeable. Honestly I think this is a religious leader thing rather than a cultural thing specific the Lebanese or Arabs as I have see very similar behavior from white men born and raised in Utah. Religious leaders that don't regularly interact with people that contradict them get a weird sense of arrogance.

Well, Muslim Arab here, and when I get insulted or offended in any way, I react just like everyone? Trying to ignore shit and reacting without getting angry, in a mature attitude. Even though, like everyone, accidents happen and I can just lose my cold blood. But why would it be different than others?

I understand culture can make so that behaviours aren't all the same, but come on, it's not because a TV person and a regular religious (I don't even want to know what his bullshit title is) are muslim and acting childish that they are talking for the whole community.

And because it's better preventing, I don't find your question racist or offensive at all. I consider it as a genuine observation but based on wrong (not objectively) ideas.

Have a nice day!

I read your comment entirely, waiting for the section where it goes to shit and justifies -2 votes at the time I read you. But nope, none, it was a perfectly reasonable and balanced reaction.

To be honest it's the same for elders everywhere. They assume respect is due just by age.

This is the face of middle eastern culture, not Muslim religion. There's a difference.

A lot of Arabs act like children when they don't get their way, it has nothing to do with religion haha... I've lived with it my whole life - and I am guilty of it too.

The "high authority" of any religion usually act like this, they just get high on power and think they can get away with everything.
That is why the bible actually warns not to follow humans, but only God.
It doesn't matter if it Muslim imams, Jewish rabbis, catholic priests or whatever else you have. Just follow God and the example Jesus provided to us, and ignore the bullshit these "religious leaders" bring, they are people just like us and they don't give the right example and in fact they hurt religion in general.

The Baader-Meinhof Group? Why do I keep hearing about them, all of a sudden?

Damn, that woman wasn't having any bullshit. I wish more journalists had that kind of spunk.

Egyptian here. This "journalist" is one of the most hated ones in Egypt. Don't be fooled by her "spunk" because it's all for show. She knew how he'd react and agreed to wear this scarf before the interview and then took it off just to get a reaction out of him. It was never about "exposing" him. She once interviewed a girl who was a victim of abuse, stole pictures off of her phone, shared her private pictures on TV and then blamed her for the abuse because she wears "revealing" clothes. Mind you, she tends to wear the same "revealing" clothes on her own show.

Another example is when she invited an atheist on her show. I'll let you decide.

Yet she acts all "courageous" in this video.

democracy only works when the people are educated and free. there's nothing democratic about letting a few clerics push their flocks into a specific direction. As long as the education system is under their control, dumb and uninformed decisions will be made.

For the record, this woman last year interviewed a girl, who was a victim of sexual assault, and to prove that the girl is not innocent she stole the memory card of her phone and publicly displayed all her personal pics, just to shame her and to prove to the audience that the girl deserved to be assaulted. Her show was shutdown after this incident though. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35692926

Oh wow, she's a genuine evil person. I liked her for like 3 seconds after seeing that interview and now reddit has shown me how despicable she really is. What a......time to be alive? Sigh.....

So what you are telling us is that she is a cunt?

There are some religious people who are just good at needling you and then declaring a moral victory if you respond.

There are some reporters that are just good at needling people and then declaring moral victory if you respond.

Combine those and the fact that you're not on neutral territory..I see how it happened.

What she did in the main OPs video was terrible journalism, she went into an interview with a clear intent on puting the guy on a wall and enter a conflict with him, accusing him of getting paid and how much they paid for the interview is terrible professionalism no matter the profession. Going toe to toe bickering with the person you are interviewing is terrible journalism.

I liked it because the guy was an awful person, but terrible professionalism none the less. I was hoping she was being that way because it was a sensitive matter to her but unfortunately your video proves she is like that in most interviews.

She probably just does it for the audiences, screaming people are good for the audiences.

There's also the fact that she is one of the Muslims that actually believes old school Sharia should be a country's official legal doctrine.

I have never actually met a Muslim under normal circumstances who believed religious law should be the same as state law.

I'm unsure of if she actually believes in the full implementation of Sharia'h or if she's playing up to the spin and the audience. She may well believe in it, but to me it seems like she is using the opportunity to play the "defender of Islam" against a woman claiming Muhammad wasn't divinely inspired. Whether she believes it or not isn't really relevant. She's saying it because it's what she thinks the audience wants to hear.

I agree, I'm annoyed at all these comments saying things to the effect of "Yeah, she stuck it to him!" etc. when in fact she was just being extremely unprofessional and very rude.

This second video proves the fact she is a horrible person.

Good journalism in reddits opinion is anything that makes them feel morally correct and superior. reddit would absolutely love things like Nancy Grace if she was on reddits side instead of on the conservative side.

What kind of journalist is she? She talks more than the interviewee and interrupts her all the time.

I went from being happy to getting angry pretty fast.

[–]Tsegen 2

I can only hope that she's lying cause of her guest. As in, she doesn't want to say anything that would make it seem as if she supported her.

After all, she doesn't wear a veil.

But she's probably an asshole.

LOL DON't say that.Egyption here. This bitch name is Reham Saeed and she is really A hypocrite. She cheat her audience a lot and all of the egyptions hates her cause she hired people to say a wrong things about themselves to increase viewers. FYI NOW she got suspended because of violating the privacy of one of her guests take a look here

She planned that from the beginning. It was a trap.

Even though I'm sure that guys is a piece of shit.

She's also now lost her job because she intentionally invites guests to be a cunt to them and the majority of Egyptians dislike her. That imam is also not a bad person at all but 2 mins video and it all looks different

She's also drop dead gorgeous

She is, though I'm not a fan of eyebrows being plucked and drawn on half an inch higher.

Clerics like this are ridiculous. Do they think their God will actually praise them when they die?

Yes.

I think, at the real heart of it, they enjoy the social power - far more clerics than we might think probably don't believe in the vast majority of the stuff they say.

This tends to be the case in any organized religion with real social power.

This can be seen in politics as well. It's all just an act to rile up your base to keep them under your control.

[–]Tsegen 4

No, they enjoy the social power and think their god will praise them. They partly enjoy the social power cause it allows them to impose the things they think their god will praise them for.

This "opiate of the masses" thing is overblown I think ,especially by secular people who can't seem to get how powerful people who might otherwise be intelligent and educated buy into the exact same logic that the "plebs" do.

Oh, they do.

I hope women all across the world get this message you do not need to cover your head like this. There's no reason to think God will love you less for not covering your head. Just stand by your own morals and find for yourself your own happy medium. Don't let these female controllers try to impose their will on you.

I think she was saying the opposite though. She was saying she was fine wearing the Hijab for God, and at least alluded to the fact that she wears it regularly outside, she just didn't want to wear it specifically for him. It seemed more like her trying to piss him off than her making some social statement since she literally said she "wears it for God not for you."

Gotcha I can understand her upsetness. Back in the day it was made where you couldn't go into the Holy temple and pray your priest had to, so you couldn't talk directly to God. Sadly those people abused that power and now it's great from all this we have the ability to pray directly.

The imam is a massive cunt. Before the show, the anchor has no hijab, and he has no issues speaking to her face to face. As soon as they're on air though, he pretends he can't even bear to look at her without the hijab.

Also, the anchor is a beast. I wish I had her courage in life.

Almost like the imam is pretending, or play acting a character the news station paid money for! You can't break kayfabe when the camera's are rolling, every little hulkamaniac knows that.

And he called her radiant with it on, implying he finds it attractive. Is that the exact opposite intention of the veil?

Actually no, the veil is supposed to symbolise modesty. Many people find modesty a very attractive quality.

That said, this Imam was probably trying to convince her that she was more physically attractive with the veil because he assumes she values her appearance more than anything.

Yep, they don't care about the religion. They just want to be the most popular kid on the block.

This is probably the worst example of a woman standing up for herself in all of Egyptian history... Reham Saeed is renowned for being a "journalist" with absolutely no integrity whatsoever. She humiliates and demeans anyone she "interviews" on her show.

The show basically consists of her yelling at her interviewees while not allowing them to even give an answer to any of her bigoted questions (which were never asked to seek truth, but rather to aggravate the guest and in turn boost ratings). She sensationalizes every issue and attempts to create controversy and conflict in EVERY episode.

She's like Nancy Grace x 100 - an education.

First off, she intentionally invited a religious cleric who is clearly an embarassment in his own right. She could've brought on a respected member of society and directed a series of well-constructed questions to better understand him. She clearly planned this entire scene.

This woman has been known to tarnish the image of anyone she invites onto her show. If she's soooooooo keen on women's rights, if she's suuuuch a feminist, why would she shame another woman for "dressing inappropriately" and claim she brought sexual harassment upon herself?! Hmm?

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-35692926

Hypocrite!

It's just amazing to me how someone could watch this and because of their bias against Islamic clerics side with Riham... She's SO clearly a piece of shit. Any real person could see through her nonsense. She conducted herself inappropriately. The man did not oppress her or disrespect her. There are just certain customs you follow when meeting with an imam. That's something known throughout Muslim society. She invited him knowing he'd comment about her hair. She was anticipating the entire thing to make herself look like some kind of a hero for taking off the veil.

[–]Kuth 12

What a primitive and unintelligent man.

That's hilarious because when someone post a article or video from a Russian news agency for example sputnik you'll have endless tirades saying its propaganda and they got an "hidden agenda". But if the said propaganda is aligned with majority of Reddit users given sentiment they couldn't careless who produces it.

Riham Said is an Idiot and munafiq 156 - I loved her integrity as well, but you can see her being much more closed-minded (with the same conviction) here:
Bill Burr - You People Are All The Same - How Women Argue 69 - It's how women argue
Karl Pilkington - Bullshit Man 6 - We already have a superhero for that.

One of the times I saw this video here, I remember someone saying that the captions were edited to seem much more antagonistic than it actually was and it was just the media trying to get a reaction or something to that end. Someone who actually speaks the language could maybe tell me whether or not.
