Yesterday we told you how talks are ongoing regarding the potential world record transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus to Manchester United.

Sky sources are telling us today that there is still work to be done on this.

Manchester United officials are standing firm on what they want to pay but they are desperate to sign the France international.

SAMPER WANTS BARCA STAY

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Samper is keen to stay at the Camp Nou this season.

The midfielder, who came through the ranks at Barca, managed only one La Liga appearance last term and could struggle for regular first-team football following the recent arrivals of Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes.

He would be open to a loan move away from the Spanish champions but admits he is planning to form part of Luis Enrique’s first-team squad this season.

Speaking to Marca, he said: “If the coach tells me that the best thing is for me to leave on loan, I will accept it. My idea is to stay here. I want to stay. There are many matches and the season is very long.”

Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor is in demand this morning!

The Sun are reporting that West Brom will try to sign Taylor from the Championship club.

Meanwhile, Burnley are leading the chase for the 22-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

JESE TO PSG?

Paris Saint-Germain are interested in recruiting Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez, according to reports in France and Spain.

Jese is edging nearer to the Bernabeu exit door and both Spanish radio station Cadena SER and French newspaper L’Equipe report that he could be on his way to the French capital.

PSG boss Unai Emery wants an attacker who can play on the wing or up front and Jese is one of his preferred targets, alongside Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.

Jese could leave Real Madrid on loan or permanently, albeit with a buyback clause included in the deal. The player’s agent held discussions with Real Madrid’s director general Jose Angel Sanchez before the European champions’ friendly meeting with PSG earlier this week.

It has also been reported that Jese has received offers from clubs in La Liga and the Premier League.

MORENO SET FOR CITY?

Marlos Moreno is set to join Manchester City in an £8m deal from Atletico Nacional, according to the player's agent.

Moreno’s agent, Eladio Tamayo, revealed on Thursday that the 19-year-old would sign a five-year deal at City before going straight out on loan to Deportivo La Coruna for next season.

“I will travel with Marlos on Saturday to sign a contract with Manchester City," he told Futbolred.

“He will then go on loan to Deportivo La Coruna for a year. The main architect of all this is Marlos, with his discipline and commitment. I just contributed a little bit.”

WENGER WANTS 'ONE MORE FORWARD'

Arsene Wenger wants to add "one more" attacking option to his Arsenal squad after admitting he is light on experienced forwards.

Arsenal had a £29.3m offer for striker Alexander Lacazette rejected by Lyon earlier in the summer, while Gonzalo Higuain, with whom they have been linked for several transfer windows, moved from Napoli to Juventus for £75.3m last week.

"At the moment I have not too many attacking options in terms of experienced players," Wenger said following his side's 2-1 win over the MLS All-Stars in San Jose. "But let's not forget we still have a few players at home.

"There are also a few players who did not play [against the MLS All-Star team], like [Santi] Cazorla and of course [Mesut] Ozil and [Aaron] Ramsey are at home. [Olivier] Giroud is also not here. So we have options but we will still look outside to find one more."

ICYMI: POGBA AGENT FINALISING MOVE

Paul Pogba's agent is holding further talks with Juventus to finalise the player's move to Manchester United, according to Sky sources in Italy.

The transfer has been stalling because of a stand-off between the clubs over who will pay the fees of Pogba's representative Mino Raiola. Raiola is demanding 20m euros for brokering the deal and he is now meeting the Italian champions for further talks.

Pogba left Old Trafford for Serie A four years ago but is understood to have reached agreement over his personal terms.

As well as around 13m euros net per season by way of salary, the 24-year-old will also receive another 7m euros a year in image rights.

ARSENAL IN TALK FOR MUSTAFI

Arsenal are in talks to sign Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to Sky in Germany.

It is understood that no offer for the 24-year-old Germany international centre-back has yet been made to the Spanish club.

Mustafi has a release clause of £42.1m but Sky Germany understand that Arsenal may be able to sign the German for £25.3m plus a further £8.4m in add-ons.

BARCA HAVE NO PLANS TO SELL ARDA

Barcelona are not planning to sell Arda Turan, according to the club’s sporting director Robert Fernandez.

The arrivals of midfielders Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez at Barca this summer have placed question marks over Arda’s future, but sporting director Fernandez says the club want to keep hold of the Turkey captain.

“Arda’s situation does not change,” he is quoted as saying in Marca. “We are convinced that his performance will be very good. We hope [to see] the Arda who was at Atletico.

“A possible exit? We do not consider that situation.”

FIORENTINA ATTEMPT GOMEZ-TELLO SWAP

Fiorentina have proposed sending Mario Gomez to Barcelona as part of their attempts to sign Spanish forward Cristian Tello, reports Sport.

Southampton target Tello spent the second half of last season on loan at Fiorentina and the Italian club want him back in their ranks for the new campaign.

However, Fiorentina’s negotiations with Barcelona have stalled as they are not willing to meet their €8m asking price. Tello has agreed terms with Fiorentina, but Barcelona are not keen to loan him out again as they want to part ways with him on a permanent basis.

LIVERPOOL IN FOR JOAO MARIO

The agent of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario has confirmed that Liverpool lodged a bid for the Portugal international last week. Jurgen Klopp is still interested in signing the player, according to Sky sources, but it will take an increased bid of at least £35m to lure the playmaker to Anfield.

EVENING HEADLINES

Manchester City are in talks to sign John Stones from Everton, who value the defender at £50m - but City are trying to do deal below that figure. Stones' former club Barnsley could receive as much as £7.5m from the deal after agreeing a 15% sell-on clause when they sold the England defender in 2013.
Sky sources understand that Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola has met Juventus this afternoon to finalise the last details of the players transfer to Manchester United.
Chelsea are still waiting for a response on their £38m bid for Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Sky sources. The Serie A club insist that the player is not for sale, but Koulibaly is refusing to sign a new Napoli contract.
Sevilla and Atletico Madrid have contacted Hal Robson-Kanu's representatives over a potential move for the Welsh free agent.
Newcastle have knocked back a bid from Al Jazira Club for Cheick Tiote. The multi-million pound deal has impressed the player, but the bid doesn't match Newcastle's valuation.
Newcastle have also turned down a bid from Lazio for winger Florian Thauvin. Sky sources understand that, like in the case of Tiote, Newcastle are willing to sell if their valuation is met, but the Italians' bid has fallen well short.
Sky Sources understand Watford have bid £6.7m for the Lille forward Sofiane Boufal. The French club, though, are unimpressed with the offer as they value the 22-year-old at £16.8m.
Brad Guzan is on Teesside undergoing his Middlesbrough medical, according to Sky sources. The Aston Villa goalkeeper will sign for free having become surplus to requirements at Villa Park.
Manchester United will listen to offers for Will Keane during this transfer window. Sky sources understand Keane is valued at around £1m and five clubs have enquired about the striker.
Former West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie has been on trial with Hull City. Sky sources understand that the free agent's potential move to the club could be back on after being put on hold following the departure of Steve Bruce as manager.

HIGUAIN SLAMS NAPOLI PRESIDENT

Gonzalo Higuain could not stand to spend "another minute" with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, the striker has claimed after joining Juventus.

The Argentina international, 28, became the third-most expensive player of all time when he joined the five-time reigning Serie A champions for £75.3m on Tuesday.

"I can only say that now I have no relationship with him because his way of thinking isn't the same as mine," he said. "If I made this decision it's also because he pushed me into it.

"When my three years there came to an end I felt it was time for a change. I want to thank the fans and my team-mates, but not him.

"I no longer had any kind of relationship with De Laurentiis, I can't be clearer than that. He didn't treat me well and we didn't have a relationship. I couldn't stand to be around him for another minute."

Arsenal are in talks with Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, but no offer has been made to the club, according to Sky Germany sources.

Mustafi has a release clause of €50m, but Sky Germany understand that Arsenal may be able to sign the German for €30m euros plus €10m euros in add-ons.
