My son walked on his own for the first time yesterday so Thursday was a great day for me. He was diagnosed in October with cerebral palsy and schizencephaly and the doctor said he might not be able to walk amongst other things so it was really great to see.

Plus I'm on holiday in Spain and the weather is sweeet.

I did the same thing, went to uni at 21. I didn't consider it at 18 as i was 'done' with schooling. Realised that i was going in the wrong career direction - jacked it in at 21 with some money in the bank and experience on my CV. I'll admit i was worried about being the 'old man' in the class, but it wasn't like that at all.

Was the best decision i ever made - i loved the fun/partying, appreciated the chance to get a degree and came out way more employable than the 21 year olds applying for the same jobs.

I'm an orthopaedic resident, taking care of an elderly, mentally unstable patient with spinal cord transaction. She's lost control of lower half of body. Can't control her bowel movements. Usually she's very cranky. When we passed by for rounds something ticked her off and she went ballistic. Grabbed a piece of semi hard poop and flung it my way. I ducked but nurse didn't.
