Would Pogba have cost us or anybody else way more than 110mill if he individually had a great Euro 2016 tournament? Is it a blessing in disguise that he didn't play so well in the Euro's because otherwise, he could've been valued at a way higher price had he been France's star player or something. Is that how it works? I also remember Bayern's president saying something like it would be nearly impossible to sign Renato Sanches after the Euros's because he played amazing and would therefore cost a fortune afterwards.Would love some insight! Thank you very much! :)

I mean it's already a record price so I don't know if it would have been that much more. But it definitely would have influenced the transfer, in my opinion.

Hasn't it been worked out that Barcelona paid more than 110 to various people to sign neymar? I know it wasn't one fee to one club but they've ended up spending a shit load for him

Potentially, but the issue with that is who else was going to buy him at a higher fee? When you take into account the fee + wages + Riaola's fee, there was no other club that was going to match that (for various reasons, e.g. Real's issue with the wage).

So, even if he single-handily bought France the cup, the reality was that as long as we could deal with the other two issues, the fee itself just needed to break the transfer record to make Juve happy.

Now that's a good opinion op. Yeah i guess if he performed well during euro his price must be more higher. Because he will be more marketable and lot more clubs will interested in him.

I was thinking this when the rumours first surfaced. I'm pretty convinced that if pogba had an amazing tournament, and then won the final, zidane would have convinced Perez to get his wallet out. Definitely a blessing in disguise that he was just OK.

I know Perez has a bad rep.. but do you really think anyone would knee jerk react at this level with the transfer figures being thrown around ?? I mean its as if they are watching TV and saying yes thats the player we want to throw 100m on, does not matter what he did the past few years. Sissoko was great at the Euros, think he will go for 100m ??

I think he reacts to his fans and his fans knee jerk react to international tournaments. I'm sure he's learnt something since the makelele debacle, but if his fanbase put the pressure on alongside zidane, especially when they're out of the transfer market for a while, I think he would have caved. I don't think they would have beaten our wage offer but whether or not pogba would have gone regardless we can't be sure. Let's just pretend that he wouldn't have.

I don't think so, both clubs were already aware of his value. Only thing I think could have changed was perhaps Perez would have gone crazy for him like he did with Rodriguez after the WC and started a bidding war.
