Obviously I know he is still at the club, but it looks like his days are numbered. Who do you think would be a good long term captain for the club after he leaves.

Smalling will probably be it. Mourinho likes his captains in defense. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Blind gets it (if he does secure a starting spot).

Smalling and de Gea are the only other possible options right now. If Smalling has another fantastic season and is a cemeted starter then probably him. Van Gaal already started the process of getting him ready for leadership and I think he'll have the best shot when the time comes.

Herrera will leave this club before Rooney does.

On what basis do you think Herrera should be our captain? He's going to turn 27 in a month and hasn't done anything of note in his career.

And gave some interviews where he showed passion towards the club, and celebrated passionately whenever we scored a goal. This alone makes people here think that he is some top-tier midfielder. He hasn't shown enough when it matters on the pitch.

He has a LOT to prove, and I think he will get that many chances to do so.
