Silly season has returned for the 4th summer on /r/reddevils!

Most of you know the drill.

For those who don't...From today until the window closes, a transfer round-up & discussion thread will be made every day. In these threads, ANYTHING can be talked about. Any player, in or out, any transfer fee, anything!

Now, with these threads starting, this means that rumours submitted as separate posts will be removed unless they are from reliable sources!

Today is the day gents.

The Pogba saga has lasted longer than sagas and official confirmations of Bailly, Miki and Zlatan combined. No joke.

But as has been brought up by quite a few people, this is the biggest transfer ever, it couldn't have happened any other way. Ronaldo took over a season (potentially 2), Bale dragged on forever. For this, we've had a change of manager, the Euros with which he played in the final of, and we're not even past the 1st month of the transfer window.

I think we're all over-saturated, because of the amount of info we've gotten, day-in, day-out. But for me, this has been a dead-smooth transfer. Before the Euros, I was just kinda sad about Renato Sanches, but still thought we maybe might go for Kante. Kroos? Depending if Madrid do something stupid.

But Pogba? I'd have given us damn near 0% chance of us signing him up until a few days after the Euros, when all of a sudden, while I was still thinking it was 0% chance, reports started to filter in saying it's done. Agreement with the player done, in the bag, and confident we'll get an agreement with the club.

And it hasn't deviated from there. Berbatov was a saga. Herrera under Moyes was a saga. This one? This has been as smooth as cheese.

This may sound greedy, but I'd still like another CB brought in. I believe Bailly can step up, but pairing Smalling with an experienced player may be the better option.

If we're loaning or selling players too, maybe some strong replacements. I hope we don't thin the squad too much... We've all seen what that can do.

Love the idea of him going out on loan. He's simply not going to get the minutes here yet. Very interested to see him playing regular minutes somewhere else (hopefully a lower table PL club like Boro).

Lingard didn't really until he was 21 or 22. Pereira is probably better technically, though Lingard's movement and linkup play is really good.

People talk about Pereira in different terms to Lingard. It seems like most people think he can be world class or be a starter for United. If he was that good he would've made the break through by now. Nobody thinks Lingard is a long term option for us down the right.

So who else do you guys want after Pogba? I would feel better with an experienced CB next to Smalling while Eric develops more (although from what I've seen I don't think he would have too much trouble stepping in right now). Someone like Joao Miranda would be nice.

A loan for CBJ makes sense. Shaw will have that position locked down and Blind/Darmian/Rojo can deputize there. If CBJ plays well on loan, Darmian locks down RB, Blind plays primarily at CB/CM, and Rojo looks expendable, I can see CBJ coming back and competing for the backup spot. He can also play CB, so he might have a shot as a versatile defender.

I wish Pereira would stay this year, but he'll be behind Rooney, Mata, and probably Herrera for the 10 spot and I doubt Mou sees him as a winger. Hopefully he comes back and does a Lingard.

TFM really should be getting minutes this year, but I can't argue with him getting game time. If he goes somewhere where he'll start in midfield, it makes sense to get through this year with Carrick/Morgan at CDM and see what TFM develops into. If TFM looks good at CDM on loan, bring him back next year to compete to start.
