The final TV ratings are in for the second night of the Democratic National Convention, and once again the DNC attracted a larger audience than its Republican counterparts did last week.
From 10-11:15 p.m. — a timeframe that included headline speaker Bill Clinton’s nearly 50-minute speech extolling the virtues of official Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton — NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and Fox Business Network drew an average audience of 24.7 million.
That number is slightly below the total for Night 2 of 2012’s DNC, which drew 25.12 million across those networks, minus Fox Business, but plus PBS and Current TV. It is, however, nearly 5 million more pairs of eyeballs than Night 2 of the 2016 RNC drew last Tuesday (19.75 million).
CNN, which garnered the biggest convention audience of the night, was once again up sharply from 2012’s draw, with 5.93 million total viewers from 10-11:15, and 2.05 million in the important-to-cable-news demographic of 25-54. In 2012, CNN drew 4.13 million total viewers from 10-11 p.m. and 1.54 million in the 25-54 demo.
MSNBC slipped behind second-place NBC with 3.83 million viewers and 1.17 million in the 25-54 demo, but remained ahead of ABC, CBS, and Fox News.
Fox News slipped to a not-unexpected last place in terms of DNC coverage, with 2.85 million total viewers and 634,000 in the 25-54 demo.
Again, it’s worth recalling that in 2012, the DNC occurred over only three days. On the second night, Sept. 5, 2012, NBC carried the NFL season opener (New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys) rather than any convention coverage.
I don’t know who’s counting, but I watched the roll call on Direct TV 349 so I did not have to listen to commentators.
Important to note, many HRC supporters skipped networks and watched C-Span due to over reporting of the Bernie protesters and hyperbolic editorializing.
If one takes into account social media and not just TV the RNC convention blew the DNC convention out of the water. Even during the DNC convention more twitter activity about Trump than DNC.
Republicans are far less technically saavy than the educated Democrats. Trump voters are typically HS level or below. Otherwise how can you explain Trump’s popularity?

REAL Americans like myself, a USN veteran would rather hear and watch about POSITIVES for America than the gopeepee teaser for American Horror Story babbled by those who are like listening to the racist, bigoted, misogynistic, narcissistic deranged chump and its braindead FOOLowers and other anal birthed buttplugs just like hearing the audible drip of a leaking colostomy bag.
Lol i tuned in cause everyone said they were booing and the convention was chaos. I didn’t watch all the gop convention but it didn’t seem that bad. Not being partisan completely independent in case that was worded badly.
The DNC has been better produced, with a much more varied, and experienced, cast of speakers. You’re definitely not being unbiased.

You need your eyes checked. The RNC arena was half-empty while the DNC arena was packed to the rafters.
So you’re saying a convention headlined by FLOTUS, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Alicia Keys performance, and Bill Clinton got higher ratings than Scott Baio, some old underwear model, an angry cop and Trumps kids? You’re kidding.
3/4 of the program is Hollywood entertainment.
It is because we were all waiting for Bernie to do something good. Once we realized he was going to give in to the machine, we all turned it off. :)

She’s a friend to cats, dogs and small forest creatures, and says if elected she will swear on a stack of Bibles when her term is finished, she will not loot and pillage the White House.

That the ratings were higher for the Dems just underscores the fact that they ignored the Reps who themselves tuned in to the spectacle of the lying leftist bra-burner for some dark comedy.
Uhm, yeah, she was a right wing conservative with short hair and a headband in the bra burning days. Not a long haired “give peace a chance” hippie.
It’s all the Republicans watching too. Don’t let that fool you. I know Repubs who had house parties to watch, wise-crack and gloat over the boo-ing. They served lemons and sauerkraut. This is going to be one of the craziness elections in memory.

Interesting that the ratings for the DNC was so much bigger than the ratings for the Republican National Clownvention. Maybe Trumpo the Clown isn’t as popular as he likes us to believe.
