Interesting coincidence - We nabbed players rankied 3,8 and 10 on the whoscored Top 10 for 2015/16 (self.reddevils)

I am a believer in stats. They do capture some aspects of performance (heavily weighted towards output) even if they are imperfect.

Zlatan , Mkhi and Pogba are ranked 3,8 and 10 on last years list. So we got most of the attainable players on that list.

Interesting Sidenote : Among the top 10, Mahrez was no 9 on their list. He is the only other attainable player in that top 10 and i think we may throw our hat into the ring if the competition is Arsenal. Also Di Maria was no. 7 on that list.

May be we should wait before we count Pogba in as our player. About throwing a hat at Mahrez, I'd like him but with Rooney favoured to start as the NO.10 and Mata staying I don't see it happening, MKHI will be our RM this season.

Fantastic transfer business this year but do we really need Mahrez, if we get where would we play him and we need to sell some one to make place for him in the squad much less starting XI.

he would play RW and Mkhi would be at number 10. Both are improvements from mata/rooney at 10 or mata/lingard at RW. But I dont think we need him tbh.

I don't doubt this would be better from a sporting viewpoint. But Rooney has a contract until 2019, and I don't think even Mourinho can just come in a run him out of town in the first summer, or even first year. It would be a press shitstorm that the team just doesn't need to bench Rooney before/unless he has a string of bad performances under Mourinho.

My guess is that forcing Rooney to play at forward or No10 is a sink-or-swim tactic that will either get performance out of him or allow a move to be pushed through next summer. Then, we move next year for a top RW or No10. Or, we'll go through another summer of Rooney-wrangling, if he somehow manages to resurrect his form this year.

I'd much rather have Mkhitaryan at RW than 10. In the premier league wingers are extremely influential. Granted if we also had Mahrez I guess I'd be happy with Mkhitaryan at 10

I would honestly prefer Rooney/Mata at 10 and Mkhi at RW to Mkhi at 10 and Mahrez at RW

If we got Mahrez our attack would be amazing.
Martial left, Mkhi 10, Mahrez right. Wow.
Unfortunately I don't see it happening as I think Mou will play Rooney at 10, with Mata as backup, meaning Mkhi is mostly in that right wing spot.

I don't think we should go for Mahrez this window. Assuming we get Pogba, that's 4 new players who go right into the starting XI. A fifth would mean almost half the team concisting of new players, and that's not ideal.

However, if Mahrez has a similar season this year, he should be our main target next summer.

Mahrez and micki both can play Right Wing and no.10 so there is a place for him but i doubt it since rooney is our captain

I would LOVE Mahrez. Play Mkih 10 and Mahrez RW. Rotate Rooney at 10 and striker.

That would be a huge upgrade. I don't think we'll sign him though.

Interesting also that we've already bought the top rated players in both the bundesliga and ligue 1. Top rated player in serie a is pogba.

Arsenal don't bid the right amounts. They're looking for bargains and believe there no way Mahrez can be had for a bargain.

If don't think they'd spend the 70m of whatever Leicester would ask.

Eh neither should we, in a world where Griezman has something like a £80ish million release clause why would anyone accept that valuation.

Griezmann is contracted till 2021 and that release clause is only available to Spanish teams. He'll be as hard to sign as Pogba has turned out. Anyway my point was that Arsenal are unlikely to spend even 70m Euro, let alone pounds.

With a team like Leicester it'd be about whether the player wanted to stay. Definitely not 70m!! Kante was one of their most important players last year (same level of importance as Mahrez) and he went for around 30. I'd imagine if Mahrez wanted to leave he'd go for 30-40.

The coincidence is that we weren't going after players based on the Whoscored top 10. It turns out that we got all the players who could realistically have been signed from their top 10 apart from Mahrez and Di Maria(who we obviously will not sign again).

Don't get ahead of yourself. Pogs isn't final just yet!
But yes it's fantastic work from our boss, scouting team and Woodward. These three players should really strengthen our team massively.
These 3, mixed with Martial and Schneiderlin last year make up half of our outfield players now. Great work all round to refresh the team (assuming Schneids does well and gets playing time)
