I know it's only pre-season but apparently he's been on fire for Monaco. To those who loved him during his time here (like me), keep an eye out for him this season. Signs he might improve his form drastically with Monaco.

he's been scoring a lot but it's preseason, to be fair. I'm hoping he gets back to his previous form or as close as he can get, was pretty sad seeing his downfall

It didn't really look like he got worse with us, it's just LVG's style wasn't suiting him with our attack being really ridged and not trying any "risky" passing to create a chance.

FFS Mourinho used him and he was just as bad. You can't blame that on Van Gaal.

I'm not blaming Van Gaal. I'm saying it's not something that was meant to be. He just didn't suite us. Mourinho didn't want to invest the time needed into him either since he wasn't worth the asking price unless he was one of the best striker at that time. Now that he is going to get minutes with Monaco we'll see him return to form. He wasted 2 precious years for himself.

his problem is not his vision and eye for goal, that was always good. His problem is his pace and strength that he has completely lost.

Both were vital on him having a edge on defence it's a shame to see

Difference in quality.
That through ball, someone with pace would be getting on the end of and dinking over the keeper or at least getting a shot off. He instead is too slow to get to it and gets very lucky with the poor defending/pinball, and finishes it off very nicely in the end.
I'm still skeptical.
EDIT: it was also potentially offside looking at it from this angle.

He's a poacher tho. Not the kind of player you expect to get on the end of balls when they're played through but someone who finishes chances when they're delivered into the box

That's how hes always been. Just a lack of physicality (which seems to be returning) and confidence held him back mostly

He used to be quicker though right? Best of luck to him though at Monaco, maybe he just lacked the physicality to do well in the Premier League.

I mean yeah, but him getting slower shouldn't be THAT much of a handicap. The difference in pace isn't as apparent. Think he'll thrive in Ligue 1 if he maintains his confidence and the team is built around him
