Hey folks,
I'm checking in with a couple of moderation updates. First things first: /r/bestoflegaladvice is back in action!
It's been closed for about a month now. In that time, the drama has mostly died down and we've been able to evaluate the impact closing /r/bestoflegaladvice has had on the main sub. We're no longer concerned about things overflowing to the OPs of the main sub, and we haven't noticed an appreciable difference between it being opened or closed. So long as this sub does not detract from the mission of /r/legaladvice, it will remain open.
To best address the needs of this community, new mods are being appointed to focus solely on /r/bestoflegaladvice. I'll be heading that team, and adding others in the coming days. If anyone would like to volunteer, please PM me.
For the time being, we'll mostly be operating as we did before closing down. Only "np." links will be allowed, and only posts that are over 12 hours old will be able to be submitted. While moderation will be limited, we'd like to keep this sub mostly on topic. Meta posts and other off topic conversations will be directed to /r/legaladviceofftopic.
Over time, we may introduce some new features and rules to improve the sub. One common complaint was that the sub wasn't a true "bestof". I get that criticism, we tend to go towards the most dramatic threads rather than the real best. I'm hoping to put together a nominations process and an actual curated bestof in the wiki of this sub, but it'll take some time to put that together. So, stay tuned!
And, if anyone has other ideas, don't hesitate to let me know.
Cheers,
/u/ramady
