Perhaps if you tag posts instead of delete them then people won't get upset ? I like it here more than /r/news but maybe taking on their method of tagging posts might help. For instance if people make up a shitty title, tag it as "Sensationalised Title" or something. Deleting posts will always look bad if they are news in any way, regardless of their title, that's my opinion anyway

So it's no different than r/news here then. Except maybe for political leanings.

Not even remotely. Check out our modlog and tell me what piece of news you find that we've censored. Hell the very fact that we have a public modlog already sets us miles apart.

Appreciate the public mod log. Buy why are there so many unwarranted removals of posts and comments? Isn't that why upvotes and downvotes exist?

Such as? gimme a couple of examples.

[–]Uninfected 0ポイント1ポイント  (6子コメント)

Pretty much all of the removals there (except spam). They should all be allowed, and people will downvote them if they don't like them.

[–]G_PetroniusItaly 0ポイント1ポイント  (4子コメント)

All the removals there are content that is not news, news that is older than 14 days or submissions with editorialized titles. That's a minimal set of rules that keeps this subreddit on topic i.e. about news.

I think some of them should be allowed, like opinion pieces. But I was more referring to the comments.

I think some of them should be allowed, like opinion pieces.

We asked the community about this and there was a clear majority for not allowing them. Opinion pieces aren't news but, as the name implies, opinions on the news. They're so closely associated with news that there's doubt whether they should be allowed in a news subreddit, which is why we turned the question over to the users and let them decide.

As for comments, practically all of our comment removals are due to reddit sitewide rules. There's simply nothing we can do about those, we have to enforce them.

The community has changed/grown a lot and censoring posts isn't a good idea.

Oh fuck off. Get your head out of your ass and provide evidence for baseless claims like this.

That's superb civil argument, wow. Typical reddit mod.

Where do you get the idea that there's a lot of upset over post removals? I can't even remember the last person who modmailed us to complain about that.

For instance if people make up a shitty title, tag it as "Sensationalised Title" or something.

We tried that but it resulted in too many people still making editorialized submissions, so we tightened it up. We'll reconsider in the future if the problem subsides.

If a post was removed because it's editorialized you ALWAYS have the option to resubmit with a non-editorialized title. In fact it's what I write in my removal messages: "Resubmit with non-editorialized title". We never censor news here.

easy now, was just an opinion haha :). Not harassing you or anything. You're doing a good job here

edit : I noticed a post, similar to this one was removed, that's why I mentioned adding the tag to the title, that's all. Otherwise, it's all good

You're going to have to gimme the actual removed post (you can find it from our modlog) if you want to know about it, the one you linked isn't removed.

No i've seen the article, it's ok. It's just that I saw it here on uncensorednews, and I thought oh that's interesting, then a few hours later I thought you know that article was pretty shithouse I wanna leave a comment on that shit, but it wasn't here anymore. Then a few hours later it showed up again as a new post.

Not to worry though, all good. Serious, uncensorednews is the shiz and I tell people to come here when they say /r/news is biased, which it totally is. But yeah, sorry, I can't remember which post exacatly was the one I saw, just that it linked to the same article (which was a pretty sus article anyway tbh.)

Can't help you without seeing the submission in question. It might have been deleted by the OP.
