I can't wait to visit it 4 months from now and see a handful of posts from today!

How's /r/TrueSeattle doing?

Am a fan of /r/AskSeattle as an idea. So many questions are asked and downvoted here.

How about a new /r/Seattle that just doesn't have idiotic mods instead?

Seriously, get off your high horse moderators.

Mods are different from admins.

Here is the Greenwald post that got removed this morning. Technically it wasn't even about the Greenwald event itself, but the fact that the previous post got removed.

I saw the mods kill the other one, and I thought a link directly to Town Hall would be fine, but the mods silently killed it without even leaving a message as to why.

Apparently a bunch of posts about Neal DeGrass Tyson is fine, but this one isn't. *shrugs*

The mods are a bunch of shills. Who knows why it's pretty irrelevant to this nit picky crap. The mods failed though, I saw the post in /r/Seattle and bought a ticket. $6 whole dollars of mine Glenn is going to use to destroy America the mods failed to prevent. I know they're crying.

Yeah they deleted a post of mine about a local show, but let a previous one slip by. While all the coding and game events get a pass.

My God, why would anyone want to know about different events and shows to go watch in their home city?!?!

Why go see live music when you can just listen to it on really good headphones.

Who exactly are they a shill for? And what evidence is there that they are shills for said interests?

I only see X comments displayed even though X+1 comments exist.

Who was shadowbanned? Speak / pm me!

I'm seeing correct numbers. Reddit's counts often mismatch the actual numbers for a while, because of the way data is handled behind the scenes (it's a form of what's called "Eventual Consistency" in the engineering world). Nobody was shadowbanned :).

Nope. If you see X comments and there aren't that many comments in the thread, someone who was automod-shadowbanned has posted in the thread.

That's fine, except it doesn't explain why I saw '21 comments' on the header and I counted 21 comments on the list, 5 hours after /u/mrsmeeseeks claimed there was a missing comment.

It DOES look like there's a missing comment now. It's definitely true, though, that the eventual consistency model of reddit extends to comment counts, especially in the first few hours of a post's life as it's getting a lot of traffic.

I'll try posting and immediately deleting a comment to see if that also affects the comment count in the long term, because I'm curious now.

Edit: Looks like it doesn't.

Amazing that in this day and age, a very important speaker is coming to my city, but I cannot find about it from my own city's subreddit because another person doesn't want me to.

Someone else is deciding what I learn about my own city.

While we're discussing alt subreddits, /r/seattleunderground is also a thing for less moderation. It just needs more active users willing to help make it go.

In addition to /u/loquacious' subreddit, I created /r/seafriends in a moment of inspiration to announce casual get togethers, happy hours, "who else is going to [band] tomorrow]?"

    SHAMELESS MULTIREDDIT /r/seattleevents+seattleunderground+seafriends

The multi reddit function is awesome. Bookmarked.

    I'm there also! Thanks!

I find it absolutely hilarious that you had to create that subreddit, just because this (/r/Seattle) subreddit has this for it's subtitle: "News and current events in or about Seattle, Washington, USA."

That's right, we had to create a /r/SeattleEvents subreddit because we couldn't post current events in a subreddit about local current events!

I made it like 4 years ago because I was tired of seeing event postings and thought it'd be more appropriate to have a sub-sub-reddit. It clearly never took off :)

r/Portland seemed to make it without needing like 10 subreddits about each type of thing that could happen in a city, but, I suppose Portland Metro is smaller.

    Edit- Clarified point

Has nothing to do with metro size and everything to do with mods being idiots. Yes, lets split off all the relevant city info any create offshoot subs nobody will ever go to. This is beyond stupid.

Totes OMG!!! Is this a THING now!?!?!?

    Awesome job!

OMG? Did I use the question mark correctly!

Amazon spazs aren't ruining the city? Really random!

    I made /r/seatown ... kinda as a joke though.

Holy crap, that sub is 4 years old? How is it that I haven't heard of it before?

Maybe because it's an boondocks black hole.

Does this mean I need to figure out how to be a mod? I had no idea stuff was in the moderation queue, or that anyone actually used it :)

    Totes!! ")!!!?!
