[London Kyodo] When September, 1982 and Prime Minister Suzuki Zenko were the summit with Thatcher British Prime Minister who visited Japan (both, those days), and "the agreement to maintain the status quo" was between Japan and China about a possession right in Okinawa-ken and Senkaku-shoto, It found out that it was spent. The official document British Archives recorded both leaders' dialogue was released secretly on the 30th. 【ロンドン共同】１９８２年９月、鈴木善幸首相が来日したサッチャー英首相（いずれも当時）との首脳会談で、沖縄県・尖閣諸島の領有権に関し、日本と中国の間に「現状維持する合意」があると明かしていたことが分かった。英公文書館が両首脳のやりとりを記録した公文書を３０日付で機密解除した。「合意」は外交上の正式なものではないとみられるが、鈴木氏の発言は、日中の専門家らが指摘する「暗黙の了解」の存在を裏付けている。
日本政府は現在、尖閣諸島問題について「中国側と棚上げ、現状維持で合意した事実はない」と主張、暗黙の了解も否定している。
