Gingrich's speech indicated that Lying Ted was supposed to endorse Trump. The speeches are typically coordinated just before going on; They're "sealed" / locked in and the teleprompters are then updated to the final speech. There will typically be several prepared responses depending on what other candidates speeches might hold, and then the appropriate premade scripts are given to the teleprompter crew.
There is a slim chance that Gingrich just didn't have a response prepared for the teleprompter in the event that Lying Ted didn't endorse Trump.
Gingrich's speech most likely indicates that El Rato's speech was supposed to endorse Trump, since Gingrich was making reference to Cruz's endorsement. IMO, it's a win for Trump not to be associated with The Zodiac Killer.

There is a lot of shame in losing to Trump.
He's effectively proving you've wasted your career, all you know about politics is wrong. He's spent his whole life doing it one way then the Donald comes along and just pisses all over it. He's worked to become president of the United States, now he's being destroyed.

          I came over from /r/all after reading about Cruz's non endorsement. First I went to /r/conservative to see the drama unfold. They are having a different conversation all together that pretty much would down to "Cruz is right".
          I have no love for Cruz or for that matter much love for Trump(my views are different) but you always stand by your brother in his time of need. Even Bernie endorsed Hillary for party unity's sake. What Cruz did was unforgivable. What was he thinking? He's just lost his chance to be president ever.           I was watching it live on Youtube and as I recall he was initially getting a lot of cheers. The reason was that he was reiterating a lot of Trump's campaign points! For example, I distinctly remember him using the phrase "Build a wall". So, if those are the position he is going to take, then it only makes sense that he endorse Trump. Turn it around, in his endorsement speech, I'm hearing Sanders say things like "we will continue to fight for a government that fights for all of us and not just the one-percent", with Clinton right beside him! It's really not the same.
