When Mourinho arrived at Porto the team was out of the CL, morale was down and they didn't really have BIG prospects. We were dominating internally but that last season right before the start of his tenure was quite a disgrace.
Mourinho is unique in playing the underdog, and I think his work at Madrid proves how fucking unbelievable he is. He was able to control Barcelona and made Madrid feel like the true giants they are. He was terribly unlucky too: 3 CL semis but no trophy. Ancelotti and Zidane built on his legacy, and thanks to that Madrid has been probably the biggest contender when it comes to CL for 6 years straight now.
When he says for you to forget the last 3 seasons, you better fucking believe it. Bringing Pogba shows an immense vote of confidence from the board, and if you are all in the same boat I honestly believe that Mourinho could really do something unique at United. Pogba under Mourinho will become a monster, and everyone knows it. When Mourinho has the club 100% with him, he's unmatched. I still don't understand why Chelsea didn't gave him what he wanted this time around, but just look what happened at Porto, Inter and for the most part in Madrid.
When he was coaching in Portugal he was obsessed with Man Utd, and now he was the chance to prove/challenge himself. Times are different and cycles are now much shorter, but it's obvious that Mourinho will try to build a legacy as important or at least comparable to that of SAL. Even if that's an impossible and unreasonable objective, he'll use that fire for long term motivation. And on the short term he'll get to destroy Guardiola.
History is about to happen lads.
