They say it a lot here in Aus but I don't like it. Feels like it cheapens it. If I shorten it I just call them United - there's no other United more famous than Manchester United.

I like the full name, it gives more power. I seriously hate when people call Anthony Martial "Tony", but I know it's me just being a cunt.

I imagine many foreign fans haven't heard about why some despise the name. I think it has something to do with rival fans using it to taunt about the Munich air disaster. As someone who is a foreign fan, I try to respect those with more local ties to the club. And since learning that some don't like it, I don't use it. However, I've never actually met someone who told me not to, just read about it on the Internet.
