IMO this is the best 11. I know mata vs Rooney will be a discussion but because mata has better ball control and more consistent passing, he should be preferred to roo But i think he and Roo are interchangeable

I think Mou is going to prefer Valencia over Darmian also we don't know about Fabinho yet.

Why do you think he will prefer Valencia? Yes his work rate is higher but darmian is a better defender and with Luke Shaw back I feel that he will be the be main overlap fullback

I don't agree with Darmian being better defender and I think Valencia is all around the better player but we will see...

It's just my personal opinion after all.

You are right about Fabinho though, he could be better than both. But I do think that darmian will have more defensive responsibilities this season (play that suits him more) because of the riskier brand of football we will play with Jose as opposed to LVG

I feel like Valencia has a tendency to get caught out a lot more where Darmian likes to stay back. That's why I can see him being perceived as better. As far as taking his defender on and tackling, I don't know probably a draw. Valencia is probably the more athletic of the two even if he's older.

Personally I think that Fabinho is a better all round modern right back than Valencia and Darmian. I just think that people aren't so eager to move on either of those players because Valencia is such a hard worker and Damian has only had 1 season so far. But at this point Fabinho is a better right back than either of our current options.

A midfield with Carrick, now this I can get behind. The rest is fantastic as well, maybe Darmian for Valencia but based on form (from last season which should or shouldn't be taken into account?), Valencia deserves his spot

Yeah I feel Carrick is by far the most underrated player on here and for Valencia over Darmian, is mainly down to how superior he is in the final third, but Darmian could work so we'd have one defensive fullback and one attacking.

I'm guessing we'll play a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 style with Martial and Miki as faux wingers. Could also go 4-4-2 but it depends how much Jose rates Marcus / wants to cripple the team to accommodate Rooney.

Right back spot is debatable, Tony V has performed the best but it's up for grabs. The central midfield is totally up for grabs too, could go to anyone but we could do with some legs and speed on the ball (so no Rooney and Mata on the pitch together)

De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw, Herera, Shweini, Pog(if he signs) Miki, Martial, Ibra.

ToFu should be given a chance off the bench, Rashford should be the 2nd choice attacker.

Depends.

Mourinho has been known to chop and change his base formation and personnel depending on what we need.

For example, I can see Rooney playing instead of Ibrahimovic if we need someone to chase the ball around and lead a press.

I can see Martial or Mkhitaryan being benched for Valencia, or another more defensive option.

I think our base formation will be a 4-2-3-1.

Defense of Shaw, Bailly/Blind, Smalling/Jones, Darmian.

Midfield of Pogba and Schneiderlin.

3 attacking mids of Martial, Rooney, and Mkhitaryan.

Striker in Zlatan.

I think this is the formation we see the most next season, I'm guessing ~25-30 times.

It changes for games where we park the bus, for example, drop Rooney (or move him to striker) and play with a midfield of Schneiderlin and Carrick with Pogba as the advanced option.

Shouldn't be too hard since every post I've seen expects absolutely nothing. Like the guy a lot, hope he has a great season and it was just health issues. Could be a really nice controlling influence beside Pogba?

De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Rojo/Bailly, Shaw, Pogba, Herrera, Rooney, Martial, Miki, Ibra..

This is our strongest line up IMO. Mata and Morgan as subs.

Modrić and Kroos both worked hard as well yet they needed Casemiro. It's not all about work rate, you need someone who's specialized in defending.
