BREAKING: Axe-wielding man injures 'many' in train rampage

A MAN has caused terror on a busy train injuring commuters in a vicious axe rampage.

The horrific attack happened on a train line between Wurzburg-Heidingsfeld and Ochsenfurt in Germany.

Local media are reporting that at least 15 people have been left with serious injuries.

A huge police operation involving a helicopter is now underway in part of the southern city of Wurzburg, in Bavaria.

Sources are saying that at least four people have been left with "critical" injuries.

Unconfirmed reports said earlier the axe attacker had been shot.

However, German news stations have since said the police search is ongoing.

Broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk has claimed the man attacked passengers with "cutting and stabbing weapons".

It's is not yet clear if the attack is linked to Islamic terrorism.

In May, a lone wolf Jihadi killed one and injured four others in a knife frenzy at a train station in Munich.

He shouted "Allahu-Akbar" as he carried out the brutal murder.
