They said they spent 8 years developing this game but everything is worse than NV which was knocked out in a year.

Keep in mind NV was built on top of what Bethesda accomplished with FO3. It's practically like creating a massive mod, since BE did all the heavy lifting on the engine, leaving obsidian to just create content.

BE spent much of that eight years modifying the engine, creating mechanics such as weapon customization and settlements. If Obsidian makes another fallout game, they'll piggyback on all that work and have a much easier time making it. I'm not saying it changes how good either game was, just providing an explanation for the development durations.

NV had a weapon mod system as well don't forget.

Also the new engine sucks, it doesn't look especially good and has terrible optimisation. The new features that they added such as the settlements were done better by Arcoola(basically on his own I might add) in less time in his settlement mod for fallout 3.

The weapon mods whilst cool absolutely would not take that long and it doesn't change the fact that they added a ton of dumb gimmicks whilst gimping the core fallout gameplay.(different resolutions based upon different character builds, funny dialogue options etc)

Hopefully they do what they did with NV and let obsidian have a crack at a game with the new engine but unfortunately I doubt it.

Bethesda probably doesn't want to get shown up again. Obsidian made them look like shit.

Err, what? Never actaully heard of that before now. Also, didn't they also trash the 0intel baby speak or nah?

[–]counterpig [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

NV and 3 both had unique dialogue options depending on SPECIAL or skills which could allow for alternate was to finish quests etc that's basically gone with 4. Now they all follow the same format.

Baby speak got ditched in 3, NV and 4 but NV had some unique dialogue and quest solutions if your character has <2 intelligence.

I'm fucking retarded. I thought you meant screen resolutions like a bulky character would have a slightly stretched out view or some shit.

I think F3 had like 1 check for low int and NV had a few (but nothing like 1 and 2).

I do agree that Bethesda spent their time somewhat unwisely with FO4. I'd really like to see what Obsidian can do if they get their hands on another license.

And Fallout 3 used the Oblivion engine. It's not like Bethesda built it from scratch for Fallout 3, either.

In your mind the people that make an engine are the same people that build content, also that Bethesda had the same number of people working on the project as Obsidian, also that anime is real.

It was an okay GAME. It was a god awful FALLOUT game.

why did you shoot my wife if you have a motherhood complex

Huh. That blew my mind.

If you'll allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment here, #20 is a bit inaccurate. Your defences are utilised to fend off attacks when you're not there, but all that happens is you get a little notification saying "[settlement] successfully defended itself". However, I'm not sure what else OP expected tbh.

I think we can all agree Fallout 4 had good graphics and gunplay but was severely lacking in terms of story, plot, lore, roleplaying etc. I thought many of these issues were addressed quite well in the Far Harbour expansion pack, but the game should've been like that from the start.

I think Bethesda's actually released a statement saying a voiced protagonist was a big mistake, and that it put a big strain on their RP and quest options. Hopefully fallout 5 or NV2 or whatever will go back to a silent protagonist. Fallout with a Skyrim-esq dialogue system would be perfect.

The graphics are terrible

[–]fenian1798/int/olerant [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

By PCMR standards, yes the unmodded graphics leave a lot to be desired. By Bethesda standards, though? I think they're a massive improvement over Fallout 3.

I think we can all agree that your comment was so fucking stupid that it was painful to read.

my main gripe with the story was with your son. he knows youre still frozen in vault 111, yet doesn't do shit about it his entire life. he knows what the institute does (wiping out entire settlements, murdering innocents, fucked up experiments) and yet he argues that the institute is humanity's last hope. i domed that little shithead before he could finish talking.

Eh, I liked it.

Everything bad aside, plot wise, immersion wise, the gameplay is very nice, the shooting is smooth and very enjoyable.

And yet all you stupid fucks still bought it despite knowing it was going to be crap.

there was a time when videogames where good, this was before your mother started having sex with black men

+1. Put in a few hours at launch. Now it won't even launch. Great game. I'll pick up their future titles from the -90% sales once all the good mods are out and polished.

[–]immortal_meme [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

The only good thing that came out of the game was the artbook you can buy separately.

[–]fenian1798/int/olerant [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Correction, there was also the copious amounts of ridiculously fucked-up SFM and Shadman porn

[–]Hellsauce/r(9k)/obot [スコア非表示]  (2子コメント)

I thought it was fun. The guns and combat worked better than in any other Fallout IMO

[–]Espressojet [スコア非表示]  (1子コメント)

But that was literally the only thing they did right.

[–]Hellsauce/r(9k)/obot [スコア非表示]  (0子コメント)

Yeah. I'm not a fan of the stripped-down leveling system and the retarded dialogue, nor the utter lack of actual role-playing mechanics, but goddamn was it fun to kill stuff.

I particularly hate that basically every location (above ground or below ground) in this game looks the same, all just drab grassland and rocks or rusted metal factories. Even Skyrim, which was like 50% draugr caves, had more variety.

But that was literally the only thing they did with NV and 3 both had unique dialogue and quest options.

I enjoy playing it but it would be nice to have obsidian take another go and make the story and plot options all around better. That's what they did IMO with new Vegas.

iirc the cryolator was a pet project by the vault 111 overseer whilst they were studying the people in cryo, as there were non-frozen research staff in the vault when it closed. Also I believe jet is pre-war, as iirc there's a house in sanctuary with a load of jet and a terminal with a pre-war log about it. Also, they kind of changed power armor to be an option rather than a late game armor, which I kind of preferred compared to new vegas. Also the deathclaw thing did annoy me, I'd of rather fought a tough raider boss with something like a hunting rifle or plasma pistol, rather than what should be a late game enemy. Also, deathclaws seem super weak compared to new vegas, same with stingwings compared to cazadores.

the only one i can really remember being explained is that they kept the protagonist alive to have backup DNA in case the Shaun project didnt work or whatever game's still shit tho
