After the previous round of feedback, we implemented a few new flairs. We'll continue to add flairs and ways to filter posts by said flairs.

A major point of contention that often comes up in our feedback threads, meta posts and mod mail is our set of rules. We didn't implement this ruleset overnight. We got here to respond to the various trends of the sub and to make things less hostile to participation.

However, it is a fair observation to make that our rules are complicated, can seem unfair and arbitrary. Apart from straight up removing these rules, a suggestion we often get is to relax a certain rule for a week, or try a mod free week. This is not really productive, because a week or two of finite timelines are not indicative of long term behaviors.

So we'd like to try a new experiment with the participation of the community. We created a new sub /r/IndiaUnplugged. This sub has /u/i_am_not_sam as the top level mod, but will not have any other mods from the team. No /r/india mod will participate in any moderation or policy making. To that effect, mod logs on /r/IndiaUnplugged are public.

What we request is for people to treat it as a rule free /r/india and see how we can make /r/india less restrictive. We will need new mods in /r/IndiaUnplugged, so please volunteer on that sub if you're interested.

On our end, we will direct all removed posts to /r/IndiaUnplugged to provide a more open forum for participation. Once (if) we achieve a critical mass, and the sub can run without a certain rule, we'll make an earnest effort to remove that rule from /r/india.

We're particularly interested in seeing how a sub with a large, politically motivated subscriber base can do without the strict title and the relevance rule. As always, reach out to us in mod mail for questions and concerns.
