1. What is this sub?

A. Is this some kind of callout sub against /r/India?
No.

B. Why do posts seem to feature only /r/india?
/r/india is 5 times bigger than the next 4 "big" Indian subreddits combined: /r/indianews, /r/IndiaMain, /r/IndiaSpeaks and /r/bakchodi. It looks like the posts feature only /r/India because theyre just so massive when seen next to other Indian subs of which there are many hundreds. This just makes the whole nonsense that goes on there so much worse.

C. Explain the problem with /r/india in more detail
I just think its bizarre that a defacto geo-default sub is being run like personal property by some people. A geo-default subreddit is a subreddit that users are automatically subscribed to if they log in from the geographical area the subreddit covers. I don't know what kind of trolling the mods have had to deal with that made them choose this rule and their style of moderation But the lack of metadiscussions on a sub as big as /r/India..a sub with growth potential is very concerning. On average /r/india adds 10k subscribers every year so by 2021 it will have 100k subscribers with a lot more posts reaching /r/all frequently. At that point youd need to decide if you want to control a narrative or make the experience more organic for Indians...who the sub caters to.

C. Is this some weird Indian mix of SRC+SRD+circlebroke?
That's one way to look at it.

2. Why is this sub here?

A. Aren't there already other meta-Indian subs?
Yes there are. They aren't very active though...which is one part of the chicken and egg problem that Indian subs face: it is difficult to get participation without activity, and it is difficult to be active without participation. This is the main reason why there's no "equal" alternative to /r/india (compared to /r/ukpolitics vs /r/unitedkingdom).

B. What if this sub dies too?
If it dies due to a lack of activity then the curse of the Indian subreddit is true. If it dies because /r/india modifies its rules and approach to moderation then everyone is happy.

C. Will this become an alternative to /r/india?
There are other subs for such things (like /r/IndiaSpeaks or /r/IndiaMain or /r/indianews). This sub is strictly meant for meta things only.

C. What if this sub becomes a rightwing or leftwing circlejerk? Will you begin removing posts or banning users? Will there be a future need for /r/indiadiscussiondiscussion?
It may become one but I won't remove posts arbitrarily. You can find the banlist here.

D. Oh you won't remove posts arbitrarily? How do we know? Will modlogs be made public?
Yes.

E. But this is just the internet. Do people really care about a subreddit that much?
For the sake of this sub, I hope so.

F. If this sub picks up in activity, can I be a mod?
Absolutely.

G. Your CSS sucks. Can you do something about it?
If you know how to edit stylesheets let me know and I'll take you up on it. The existing theme is Apicem by /u/Cereal_addict, with CSS modifications by /r/IndiaSpeaks mod /u/Blackbird-007. Report any CSS bugs with a screenshot if possible to either /u/geoff_mcconnelly or /u/Blackbird-007 and we will rectify it.

3. I have some things to contribute. How do I participate?

A. Can I /u/-tag users featured in my contribution?
That's left to your discretion but any harassment of users will receive admin attention for more than one reason, so dont go around bothering people.

B. Do I need to use np links?
You could but you dont need to. You could also use archive.is links - better recommended since sometimes the mods delete comments. You can also screenshot it and host it on imgur or sli.mg, which makes the permanence thing a lot more better.

C. How is this sub not harassment?
The mods discourage any harassment and have stepped in before to stop it. If you feel harassed drop us a modmail and we will evaluate it. Admin /u/noodsy20x6 has recommended some guidelines to be followed, which is what we will be basing our actions on.

D. What if I really hate a mod of subreddit?
Youre more than welcome to bitch about mod in this subreddit but under no circumstances is doxx, harassing, bullying, threatening or any calls to action tolerated. If the language used suggests any potential of such things occurring, the mods will step in. Familiarize yourself with the two rules of the subreddit here.

E. Help! I have very little karma/this is a throwaway/an alt and my posts are getting caught in your spam filter/reddits posting restrictions. What do I do?
You may want to be an approved submitter, so drop us a modmail and we will take it from there.
