do you understand how linear time works?

Oh shit, I didn't know.

Holy shit guys. I just realized.

This is huge.

OUR ACTIONS HAVE NO FUTURE CONSEQUENCES!

Oh my god! How did we not see that before? No future consequences whatsoever! We can pollute all we want because what happens in the past stays in the past! Linear time! Hahahah! So simple! Let's produce all the plastic bags and throw all the CO2 we can into our atmosphere, since in the future all those things will be in the past! It's two entirely different times! This is amazing! Thanks, kangaroo guy! I'm off to kill my parents! (it's ok this won't affect my future)

Comes pretty close to that "screw the environment, we don't need regulation, the captains of industry can just innovate problems away" thing, too.

It'd be nice to see them cheer and revel until they start to argue about who is going to find food, prepare food, clean the toilet, and so on.

Interesting what their mental image of a "SJW" is this week.

From what I can gather these types see "SJWs" as almost always a woman with alternative fashion choices that usually don't conform to societal gender standards (short hair). Then they are overweight because "haha fat people r stupid".

I recognize the glasses as "problem glasses," something that is actually a thing among these dipshits. And these glasses are a problem because of that one time a woman who said she had PTSD from internet harassment wore them. Trying to understand why this one woman makes it okay for them to call a style of glasses a problem and also to pollute the internet with painfully unfunny le triggered humor...well, that way lies madness.

It would also be utter madness to try and understand why dyed hair or other forms of alternative fashion are a problem. Yeah, stereotyping people is bad, but I think we've got a pretty good heuristic here: someone who thinks these superficial qualities are some kind of signifier of "SJW" qualities probably doesn't get out much. In other parts of the internet, there's a question that often comes up when encountering this level of cluelessness: Do they even know any normal people?

I used to tune in a lot to someone called TheInfidelGuy, who faded into obscurity at the turn of the century.

I don't think TAA would like him, because he was not white.

Like, 95% of that video was absolute trash but there were nuggets of good in there (the drunk man/drunk girl bit for one). Mind you I'm open to being proven wrong here and I might be not thinking of something that makes the points that seem fine at face value actually invalid.

You found a few kernels of yummy corn in the septic tank! Awesome!

Except I'd disagree and say, no, the drunk man/drunk woman thing wasn't good either.

Like I said I'm open to being proven wrong, I'm probably not looking at it from the right perspective.

The problem is that it's a strawman argument. In all my years as a feminist, I have never seen a fellow feminist/"SJW" argue that if a man and woman are both equally drunk and have sex, that makes her unable to consent and him a rapist. The actual argument I've seen is that if someone is drunk to the point of incoherence/not knowing what is going on, then having sex with that person is rape. And, unfortunately, there are men who actively seek out women who are that drunk in order to rape them.

For whatever reason, anti-feminists don't like it when we say this, so they distort the argument into "If two drunk people have sex the man is always at fault!" when no one* is actually saying that.

*I mean, it's possible that someone has said this at some point, but I've never actually seen it, and it's disingenuous to act like it's a mainstream feminist argument.

Ah, thank you for the perspective. Figured it was a little too good to be true for anything in this video to be sensible.

I like how all of the comments are just "lol you didn't even answer all of the questions!" even though most of the 'questions' are either extremely broad and impossible to answer in a specific way or passive-aggressive insults disguised as questions. The whole video is designed in a way that any attempt at a rational response would fail because the questions themselves are not rational.

But of course since TAA's whole brand is basically "i am logical and rational", his fans aren't actually going to think about this in any critical way. Because of course he asked rational and honest questions! He calls himself rational and logical often enough that it must be true!

I go out of my way to avoid kink-shaming. It is generally a good policy and perspective.

He is, however, reeking in selfishness and hypocrisy. He felt very free to express his sexual identity, but a woman with colored hair is, to him, an abomination.

I'd rather not view this. What other questions does he give?

I can try to find a transcript, but it involves putting on my swamp boots and trudging around.

Here's some:

"Why do you claim to speak for LGBT people, women and ethnic minorities, but you harass them when you disagree with you."

"Do you realize that your war on language has made you an ally to Islam, the true Rape Culture"

"What is it that you fear so much outside of your "safe spaces"."

"Why is it somehow racist to disagree with "black lives matter"..."

"Do you think you can be an immature adolescent for your entire life?"

"If feminism and egalitarianism are both for equality why one is gender neutral and the other isn't?"

"What do you hope to achieve by bringing back racial segregation?"

"If a drunk woman and drunk man have sex, the woman is incapable of of giving consent, but the man is?"

"Is it really easier to try to change other people instead of simply conforming to the status quo?"

"If I'm making rap music, is it okay to say N---er?"

There's more, but got the idea?

Loud and clear. Classic strawmen stuff hiding topics that could've been interesting with greater context instead of obligatory boogeyman.

I'm reminded of when Alex Jones did his Pokemon Go video, and the new pokemon the title talked about was "Trigglypuff" in a Darth Vader mask. I think it's also trying to be funny to their demographics, but it seems like a real letdown.

I grew up around "conservative humor." It was, at best, corny.

Even when my father found something hilarious "making fun of liberals," most of the time it was actually satirizing conservative talking points, and thus just uncomfortable since no one had the heart to tell him.

"Why is it somehow racist to disagree with "black lives matter"..."

Do you think he actually listened to himself saying that question out loud before he included it? The question basically answers itself.

If someone has to say how logical and rational they are, they probably aren't.

[–]HopefulApplicantmuh ethics 6

Why has "logical" all of a sudden become some sort of word that people use to describe their political/social views on issues? It's a catch-all that can literally be applied to anything.

It allows any bigoted shit to sound scientific to a gullible crowd.

The issue with logical with atheist you tubers is it has become a buzzword in the atheist community, along with rational and reason. Even with things like the Reason Rally, Skepticon, etc, the atheist community has taken to using those words to describe themselves. The problem with it, and what I've learned in the past few years avoiding the atheist youtube scene is that people who are atheists assume they have logic, reason, rationality and skepticism about religion then logically, they should have it on other topics and usually go through life as logical, reasonable and rational skeptics.

I think that's why the atheist community has almost splintered off at the point of feminists and MRAs (The Atheist Experience/Freethought Blogs/AronRa/ThinkingAthiest on one end, and Thunderf00t/AmazingAtheist/other newer atheist channels on the other. It's weird, before, it felt like it was altogether back in the late 00s, early 10s, and now it's just fallen off the wagon like crazy.

Is there any gist to this? I stopped following him years ago after he was bumming money off of people for his channel, this was before patreon anyway. Also learning about his odd views. Anyway, what are the questions?

One of the issues, especially with the thumbnail image, is he doesn't want to have a rational discussion. He's just a sea lion. He's asking all these questions in bad faith, because he has no respect for the people he's asking the questions to.

The first issue for me would be, the term SJW. I get where the stereotype comes from, I've seen these over the top, call out culture types who are ignorant and don't care about change but care more about yelling their position at other people. The issue is, at least from my going on reddit, the term pretty much applies to anyone who has some sort of bend towards social justice in any way, shape or form.

I would think that most people have that belief on something. Hell, even MRAs are social justice warriors in someway, because they are really passionate and vocal about what they perceive to be problems facing men. So basically, he's attacking straw men for the amusement of other schmucks who follow his line of thinking. He's being dishonest.

Most of the "questions" were loaded passive-aggressive insults. Stuff like "would it hurt to come out of your fragile emotional shell just once and see reality?" If I recall correctly. Not questions, really. Just smarmy insults pretending to be questions.

I don't know. Would it?

From a subjective perspective, seeing for a time what TheAmazingAtheist thinks is reality would probably hurt. It'd be a bitter, hateful place that makes enemies out of well over half of the world population.

I'm reminded heavily of stuff like this and these dudes seem to understand the disciplines they're attempting to criticise about as poorly.

I can't believe that a group of people that formerly focused mostly on shitting on creationist claptrap can't see how they're behaving exactly like their former nemeses, it's just absolutely delicious.

Oh man, what if there'll be a Jack Thompson scenario where Ray Comfort or Ken Ham agrees to film a bit where they talk about how crazy feminism is with Thunderfoot or something? They'll forget why they ever bothered to complain about creationism in the first place.
