    Unsubscribing from HBO NOW was kind of like this, but not nearly as bad. The fake buttons on this are terrible. If you present two options, and know that the user wants to press Disable, but you intentionally make Disable look like it isn't a button, you are an asshole.

    I absolutely hate HBO now. I signed up a few months ago to watch GoT, but their player is so bad I usually end up streaming elsewhere anyway. It's constantly buffering and skipping, and about every 10 minutes the audio will skip back about 4 seconds and then I'll have to reload the page go get audio and video synched again. This shit happens on my Mac and my PC, and across multiple browsers.

    I signed up and ended up pirating the episodes anyway, while my subscription was active. Their player is garbage.

    Plus, get this. My girlfriend started watching it for the first time via HBONOW, and the 'new episode' image on the homepage of the site contains spoilers for older episodes. Awesome!

    I've only used HBO Now on my Roku, but I haven't had these issues. I did for a bit have issues where it would stop playing and lose where I left off so I would have to restart and fast forward. Also had issues where navigation wouldn't work at all after starting an episode (so play an episode, go out of HBO, go back in to use it). That said it seems they fixed those issues and everything works fine now.

    I might have to try that. My biggest gripe other than the crappy player is their general UI. I have watched two or three episodes of the Sopranos every day for the last few weeks, but every time I log in I have to go to Series then scroll to the bottom, then once I click Sopranos I have to click over to the correct season, and the right episode. When I use the "recently watched" tool it shows me random movies that I watched in entirety weeks ago but doesn't list Sopranos at all. I know it's nothing major but why should I bother paying for a service that takes longer to pull up and has poorer quality than torrenting/streaming illegally?

    There is nothing I hate more, then when companies use a crying emoji or cartoon character with some sappy "Are you really sure? I thought we were friends." To try an guilt you into staying with their services.

    I'm actually dissapointed they didn't throw you a curveball around step 7 or so that you had to press the giant green button to continue the unsubscribe process, and clicking the text underneath subscribes you to a second thing.

    Because they were so predictable I only give it a 8/10 on the asshole scale.

    I would say that this is not crappy design. It is designed this way entirely on purpose to make it as confusing as possible and retain users even if they didn't mean or want to be retained.

    This isn't crappy design - it's working as it's intended.
